Well, I actually finished it yesterday with the addition of the buttons, but there you go!

Looks like a proper knitter knitted it!

Beautiful. You are indeed a knitter! I hope your sister will keep this for the child and pass it on to him/her when grown. I still have a few hand-knitted garments my mother made while awaiting my arrival. They are so dear to me and now and then take great joy in just looking at them.
************************************************** ****
Oh how lovely. It certainly is something to be treasured, I bet your sister is amazed by it. I dont dare show my sister the pic, she gets mad I only learned to knit after her daughter is nearly grown.

How long did it take you?

:hug:Thank you all... I am impressed also - even by the fact that it's ready before the little one arrives!

When my first niece was born, I made her a crocheted afghan, I hadn't rediscovered knitting at that point!
************************************************** *****
Auburnchick - I phoned my sister yesterday, the convesation went something like "Hi, just to let you know you are allowed to have your baby now - I finished it!"

The wool is a simple baby acrylic - i figured since it's for a baby, and i'd like it to be worn more often than not, it'd need to be easily cared for and washable easily.

The pattern is from a "Teddy Knitting Yarns" pattern number 7095. There are about 4 patterns in this booklet, and the one I knitted was the white lacy one. I've had a look online, but can't find it. I think I bought it from ebay actually...

To say it's quite a small jacket - it took me AGES!!!! Or so it felt, that and it's knitted on SMALL needles... 2.75 and 3.25mm... grow?? at one point I thought it was shrinking!

I think it took so long Mainly because of the lacework - and that I had to figure out different things - like joining the lacey bits together. Once I hit the stockingette bit at the top - it absolutely flew by.

I started this back in the beginning of February, and it's been the main focus of my attention since then. I've not knitted every day, but there were a few weekends where the rugby was on and I was knitting for a good 4/5 hours solid. I think my other half - although impressed by knitting in general (he still wants a hat...) is quite glad to get some of my attention back onto him of an evening!

So - when I see new baby in jacket my thought proces will be as follows...

Argh!!! That LACE!!!!
Argh!! I now know about lifelines!!
YaY!! I can join pieces together by knitting across the top!!
YaY!! I can seam as long as I concentrate!!
YAY I FINISHED IT!!!!!

Thanks again everyone.
(Admits to feeling somewhat smug and I'm taking jacket over to my sister later today.)
************************************************** *****
Hmm... what now... well I finish off the throw for my sister, and I've got a cardigan for my older niece to start yet!

Lol, I wonder when I'll get round to knitting myself something!
************************************************** *****
that is gorgeous!! One lucky little baby!!
************************************************** *****
Wow! Simply stunning. You did a wonderful job. (I'm all jealous of your skills.) That will be one very lucky baby!
************************************************** *****
Don't let my friend see this. My poor hand is already suffering from all the baby socks I've been knitting for her. The little sweetie inherited her mom and dads "skis" and store bought socks fit her horribly. Lucky for her "Auntie" knows how to knit socks. I don't know if I can handle her being reminded I can make sweaters for little Evie too. :teehee:
************************************************** *****
Darn! Would love to try that pattern, but you are right. I GOOGLED it and could find nothing!
************************************************** *****
It is very LOVELY!
************************************************** *****
It is fantastic being able to knit and do things like this... however, it's also something of a downer when people keep asking you for things! Nah... I really don't mind. It saves me having to think of things to do!

As long as people don't expect things toooo quickly!
************************************************** *****

GinnyG - pm'd you.

What a lovely gown. The new baby will be the best dressed child for miles around.

That is gorgeous. What a lucky baby!

Beautiful. For certain, a family heirloom!

El.

That is beautiful. Where did you get the pattern. My daughter and son-in-law are trying to get pregnant so I might get to knit baby clothes soon.
************************************************** *****

Hi, I just now saw the post about the baby jacket as if posted by me.
For the record, the baby jacket was knit by Eladene not me.
