Has anyone ever seen this before? I called the vet and he said to just put Visine eye drops in her eyes. Let me know what y'all think, thanks!

First off, what a beautiful bunny you have!

I have seen something like that on dogs (and of course I can't remember the name of it right now!) but not seen it on rabbits. I would make a appointment with the vet and make sure the vet has experience with rabbits if at all possible. I would not feel comfortable putting something in the rabbits eye without a vet seeing it first. To me that is like a people Dr. doing the same thing and I have yet to find one that would do that.

Good luck and let us know what happens!

Thanks. I hesitated because I just wasn't sure. Plus to vet on call wasn't the one we go to. The one we see has rabbits of his own. I'm going to wait til Monday and call him. She's doing totally fine otherwise. Yeah, that's Bugsy, I got her for my birthday from a gal I worked with. No one believed that she got me a rabbit! :teehee:

kinda looks like cherry eye. I wouldn't use the visine I'd just wait for the bunny savvy vet to look at it.

I got rid of most of my veterinary books for livestock. The only thing I could find in my Mercks vet manual was conjunctivitis. It would require medication only available through vet prescription.

Rabbitrescuer, that is what I was thinking but could not figure out the word! Dog gone bad memory.....or am I that old? I forget......

HMM - Visine to get the red out - NOT ! That adorable bunny needs to go to a vet that specializes in bunnies. I love my doggy vet, but he didn't see either of my bun buns - I drove about 45min to take them to a bun bun vet. That looks like an infection - double check with the vet, but will most likely need an antibiotics and his cage cleaned with 10% clorox solution. Eye infections in bun buns can be the result of an abcess in the jaw or can quickly spread from the eye, to the jaw and the respiratory tract. I don't know what kind of cage you have bunny in, but if he is sitting in his litter it should be changed every couple of days and clean water every day.
If you've never check it out, the House Rabbit Society has a great webite and if you donate (tax deductible) they send you a great newsletter. They are (IMHO) a great organization that saves rabbits from local animal shelters and provide owners with great information.

best of luck

You might want to get the eye flushed out in case there is something in it. Poor baby!
