Hi! I haven't been on the boards in a while. Busy with school and all. I'm finally graduating this summer though, so, yay!

I was wondering whether anyone knows of a pattern for the sweater/shrug/bolero that Drew Barrymore was wearing in the movie Music and Lyrics (the one with Hugh Grant as an 80s pop star)? It was grey and it sort of looked like a shrug. The arms were snug fitting but it's loose on the sides, kind of like a butterfly (or bat(wing) as I've seen it described in some places) if that makes any sense?

I've found a couple of pics, but I don't even know what it's called so not sure what to search for. I see it described as "cocoon" or oversized shrug/bolero.

Thanks!

The closest I can find are these:

http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/tzara/tzara.html

The second one looks closer. You can just make the body a bit longer maybe.

Thanks Evona. I have seen those patterns as well. I've tried searching Knitting Pattern Central and most free pattern sites. I doubt it will be free, but i don't mind if I have to pay for it.

I wonder if anyone has an idea of how it is constructed? I believe some patterns have a knitted rectangular shape where the ends are sort of sewn together to make the sleeves. But the sleeves are loose on these patterns, not sort of a snug fit around the arms like in the pics. Anyone have any ideas how it could have been made?

You could takt that rectangle and start with the cuffs and lower sleeves snugger, then increase a lot as you get toward the underarm, so the back is nice and loose, and decrease the same manner as the increases.
