View Full Version : Proof that I used to have time to knit

This is a project that I used to work on... before I had to start 'sorting and packing' for a move... (darn that having to go to work everyday - gives me less time to get my errands/etc. finished)
Anyway, it's going to be MY FIRST AFGHAN... yes, it's true.. I've knitted for years and years... and I always knew that there would be NO WAY that I'd complete a typical afghan with rows and rows and rows of endless knitting.....but, for some reason the log cabin squares break things up just enough... and are small enough.. that I enjoyed knitting these and got them knitted quite quickly... and all of this also helps w/ getting it completed- since, they are small enough that I can carry them around with me-- and they are interesting enough-- that you want to keep knitting them.

AND the yarn that I am using-- changes color-- so, that also helps to keep things interesting. I only need to do either a whole square and half of the one on my needles... or I might add another row for length to make it longer and thus more enjoyable snuggled up on the couch??? Can't have my feet not all warm and toasty can I? :D

I'm also bought enough of the navy yarn to knit a border between all the sqaures and that way it will look even more like a 'quilt'.... but, I'm not quite sure.. as I do like the squares joined together as they are- if I do the latter choice- I'll have to knit a few more squares to made it wider too.http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd224/artteacher2007/knitting/knitting522.jpghttp://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd224/artteacher2007/knitting/?action=view&current=knitting522.jpg

Thanks all for the nice compliments!
ha ha Deb... we're only allowed ONE SUITCASE at 20 kilos (about 44 pounds)... I'll need to leave SOME ROOM for 'travel purchases'..
However, I will take one skein of yarn with me ON THE PLANE in my 'entertainment' bag.. (uh, big, big purse)... it will be the first time that I've to knit in a few weeks. :woot:

It's at the point-- that I'm going to have to mail it to myself in Germany and put it together there... (oh, and finish up a few squares too)
Ok, go and check out my blog and enter my contest... (knittery stuff is a prize) ends May 31... and all you have to do is LEAVE A COMMENT between now and May 31... (of course leave a way for me to contact you... if you scroll down- you'll see my email address and more information)
