I am looking at the knit picks lace weight samplers :heart: and I am to the point of drooling... I think about it all the time, and there is also some exquisite Shimmer Hand Dyed Lace Yarn to die for...:inlove:

I was wondering if I could knit a little tanktop by using a few strands together? Or use one strand with a dk yarn? I live in Arizona and it's already 100F out here, the garment needs to be lite. Should I stick with cotton instead?

I also discovered the wonderful world of Ravelry where I can showoff my stuff (http://www.ravelry.com/people/gargoyle08) with other knitters (not that I am great, but between knitters its not so bad) and I need to put up more projects on there LOL

I haven't bought any yarn in months now, I am feeling the withdraw effects and it is bad!!!

Yup, layering yarn is great to get the thickness you need.
OR
Try using a cotton/summer-y yarn with the samplers for the top half of a tank and have the bottom half with just the laceweight, so it's lighter, lacier, and sheer. Just remember to swatch twice in case you need to change needle size. :)

A thicker top and lacy bottom... While I did envision the bottom to have a lacy pattern, I didnt think of droping a yarn. Great idea, thanks!

Besides the lace samplers, they have samplers of their summer yarns available too, mostly cotton, I think. While there's not enough of any one color for a top, you could combine them for an interesting stripey one, or for a shoulder wrap for those places where the A/C is set to arctic. You could do a shawl with a lace sampler too.

I made a pair of socks using KP lace yarn. I think I'll be able to wear them more than sock weight as the weather warms here. I also hike and I think they may be comfortable to wear in hiking boots as well.

I live in Glendale, AZ and it is HOT! I would go with a cotton. :knitting:
