View Full Version : FO a bag for my Daughter
06-11-2008, 08:06 AM
My 2 year old daughter started Playschool and I decided to make her a bag to use for her extra nappy and clothes etc.
I used Funky fur for the body and Sirdar wash'n'wear for the face. the pattern is in one of my knitting magazines and was a complete pain to do. every bit was knit separately and then sewn together. I would definitely do it in the round if I made it again.
Here is a couple of photo's am quite pleased with the end result.

I have tried to get her to wear it on her back and take a photo but so far she has not been able to stand still long enough for me to be successful. but will keep trying.
The teachers commented on how nice the bag was when she started and was quite surprised to hear that I had made it myself.
It got my attention!:inlove:

I thought I couldn't see anything cuter than the bag until I saw your DD. What a precious little face she has. The backpack is just to die for and she looks so sweet and appreciative. Good job Mom or should I say Mum. ;)
p.s. My 7yoDS was so intruiged to see someone say Nappy because he learned a lot about the world this year in school and learned that's how to say diaper in "Australian" I asssured him there are other places who say it too. LOL

My son learnt the word diaper from watching the Rugrats on telly and used to think that was the funniest word ever.

That cat really has character!! :-) I love your creation. I know what you mean about patterns like this. They are so cute and you love the FO but making them is a pain. I really don't like crafts (all that sewing), I like to knit. lol Your bag is really worth the effort though.

LOL they are kindred spirits oceans apart. :roflhard:

Nice to know that kids are the same wherever you go. the simple little things they find funny and gives them joy.

Is Bagpuss something from TV in the UK? I've never heard of that/him/her? Do you say that kitty is pink and white stripes? Funny. :-)

yes a very old show, they sometimes repeat on the telly. have to say it is to basic for my kids but 40 years ago when DH was little it was quite popular I think. I of course missed it as I am originally from Denmark and I watched pippi long stocking and Emil fra lonnebjerg or something like that
