View Full Version : FO: Baby Boy's Tapestry Cardigan

06-14-2008, 06:00 PM
The yarn: Rowan Tapestry (soy)
The buttons: steel with onyx centers
The book: Bouton d'Or (out of print)
The pattern: Chocolatine
Size: 6 mo.
The baby: Varriano's baby boy due in July (baby shower in August)

Hope you like it! I am surprised I like it so much! As I was knitting it, I was having second thoughts about it. It looked so blah. But, all seamed up and buttons sewn on, I like it very much! (I used Stash Yarn, left over from my Viking Knits Cabled Scarf.)

Here is the model sweater in the book. That is why it's called "Chocolatine".
It looks like a ice cream Sundae with cherries on top!

ArtLady, wow, what a wonderful job!!!!

When my children start having children (not for a long time though), I'm gonna have to commission you to knit for them!

Another stunner! The color is very unique and I like your version much better than the pattern original.

The button selection in my local Joann's is downright abysmal. (I've complained, even to their home offices via em, but rather than improving it got worse! Go fig.) Glad yours has some great offerings.

Another sweater for the Varriano boy??!! You are really going to WOW them at that shower!!

I commented on this where you shared it on the "Year of the Stash" thread, but I love the close up of the buttons. They have so much character.

I have to say I like your colors better than the sundae. :-)

Gorgeous!! I love the way the yarn blends the colors and the buttons you chose.

Thanks everyone! Your complimentary words mean a lot to me!
I've made 5 outfits for him so far...and I must admit, I have two batches of Stash Yarn (lt green and dark purple Rowan Calmer, 3 skeins of each color)...that I am tempted to knit for him as well!

But for now, I started a JoSharp Silkroad DK Tweed jacket for my brother...just to slow my roll for this baby!

The shower is in August. How am I gonna resist using that Calmer yarn for him??

Well, the shower gift is going to be what I call "a sweater collection"! In all sizes ranging from 3 mo. to 1 yr.

I am on my knees bowing down right now!!! Your knits are just fabulous!!! How many skeins of the Rowan Tapestry did you use?
