I would love to find out if any of you have knitted with Opal Sock Wool I have just seen it on the net it looks fantastic.
It is very expensive here in Australia $26.00 per 150g ball.
I was hoping that anyone has any other ideas that you could use the wool for as I am not really ready to knit socks, but love how the pattern emerges.
Any ideas love to hear them

I havn't myself but i saw somebody working with one of Opals self patterning sock kits and they looked great; just like real Fairl Isle. It was her first pair of socks too and she said it was realy nice to work with.

I use opal it's one of my favorite sock yarns :muah:they have pretty colorways. It's not one of the softest sock yarns in the ball it does soften up after washing and wears really well. Also for some reason may cats really love it every time I wear one of my opal socks they keep rubbing up against my feet. You could probably use this yarn for anything that uses the same weight and will show off the pattern. I'm not much help on that front I've only used it for socks.

That was the only yarn I used to use when starting to make socks. I do love the patterning of the yarn - its beautiful! Now that I've tried others, I found some that "feel" better in the hand - but they are great socks on the feet. They're warm, but not too hat & just are beautiful all around! I do recommend the yarn if you're thinking about trying it out!
