So, the saga of my college education is officially at its end.

I graduated today!

The graduation was in a city almost two hours from home...right around the corner from a good yarn store that I hardly ever get to visit. So, after the ceremony, I told my family I wanted to go yarn shopping. Although that went over like a lead balloon, I decided that it was my day, and I was gonna do what I wanted. While they sat in the car and waited, I shopped.

The name of the store is Unwind (http://www.yarn-garden.com/).

It's small but packed with goodies!

Despite all of the lovelies, I only picked up a few things...

This one was on clearance. Since I do a lot of knitting on the Oddball Baby Blanket project, I thought I could use it for that...

I love, love, love sock yarn...here's some Tofutsies...

And this one was the real treat...Tilli Tomas...my husband would totally freak out if he knew what I spent on just this skein...

I don't know if you can see them, but there are glass beads spun into the yarn...

Definitely treat yourself!!!!

I absolutely have no idea what I'm going to make. I probably should have bought two skeins, but it was so expensive. I might wait it out and buy another skein in a few weeks when a friend and I go yarn shopping. I'll probably just look on Ravelry and see what others have made with it.

Oh, and congratulations! After watching the graduate students get hooded, I've almost decided that I want one of those too. The hoods are way cool! Who knows...maybe in a couple of years I'll go back to school. :teehee:

Congratulations on a job well done, and also the wonderful yarn finds. I would say a treat well deserved. I have already made a 'note' about the Tillie Thomas.

I think school is addictive! It's like a high. I graduated university last year and a post-grad this year and I can't believe I'm not going back. I think I'm in denial!

Reading from the label...

"100% Natural Spun Silk w/Glass Beads"

It's lovely to the touch...I can't even describe it.

hi Auburn,

I sure do think you deserve a treat for graduating. I have been admiring Tilli Thomas myself but our lys is no longer carrying it. I will wait to see what you create and then i might be tempted to order some on line.

great choices, great yarn :cheering:

Congrat's! It sounds like you had a nice day and I think TT yarn is a wonderful gift to yourself (you should have bought two, you deserve it, lol)!
The first time I ever saw TT yarn was on Nantucket Island and I was amazed. I was REALLY amazed when I saw the price tag. I haven't bought any yet..maybe when I finish school, but at the rate I'm going, I'll be 100!
Glad you had a great day!

Ah! Very good question!!!

No, I didn't! My dh actually was on-call, so he drove his work car, following me in case he got called out.

So, that took care of knitting in the car for the 1 1/2 drive.

I wound up not taking anything at all. When I got there, my adviser suggested that my daughter take hold of my purse and camera. Grrr...

I could have held on to the camera, but we didn't know we would be returning to our seats after crossing the stage.

And then, I was seated in the front row! So, knitting would have been rude anyway.

Hence my need to touch yarn afterwards! :teehee:

Beautiful yarn! Check the Yarn Harlot's blog to see the beaded scarf she's making.

Here's (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/TheBlackPurl/lace-scarf) the pattern (if you're on ravelry) that I think I'm going to make with the TT.

Nathalie, you deserve every congratulation and good wish possible. Actually, everyone else who graduated does too.

You also deserve all the yarn you want, after all, now you have nothing to do but sit and knit, right?
