OMG!

I was at Hobby Lobby this week, and found some Red Heart sock yarn!

They only had one skein of each color, so there wasn't enough there to make a pair of socks. But I'm going to buy a couple skeins to try it out anyway. I guess I'll have to make different colored heels and toes.

I found it online too:
http://www.herrschners.com/products/product.aspx?sku=010318&id=1790&tab=

It was selling at Hobby Lobby for 5 dollars a skein.

I saw this today, funny our Hobby Lobby only had one of each as well.

You'd think they would know that you can only make one sock with a skein. :teehee:

How did it feel? Was it soft?

It feels wonderful! It's 70% wool, 30% nylon, and it is treated with aloe. cloud9

I just sent an email message to Hobby Lobby, asking them to offer at least two skeins of each color, so that sock knitters will have enough to make a pair of socks. :teehee:

I heard that the stores were just sent a skein in each color, and one each of the Lion sock yarn. No one ordered it, they were put in with regular orders. Maybe just to get it out there as samples so the people who order will know what to get next time.

I don't know what your colorways are, but I bought a "pair" of these socks (http://www.littlemissmatched.com/Catalog/all-colorwaves_6). They come three to a pair and are all similar, but mismatched. They're super cute and interchangeable. Maybe you could do something like that with your skeins?

Those are great! It's good to have more choices out there!

Oh man, that's SO COOL! :) The fiber content sounds really ideal, I'd definitely be willing to give it a shot!!!

Those are cute, but not for me. I'm more of a boring, "classic" style girl. :teehee:

I guess I could do that for my granddaughter, though.

Figures.

Oh well, I have enough sock yarn to last me a good long time.

Is there enough per skein to make these?

Or maybe these?

Yes, there would be enough for ankle socks like that.

It's a regular, 50 gram skein of sock yarn, so it will work the same as other sock yarns of that size.

Now, if you're a loose knitter, you might need more than one skein.

That's WONDERFUL! I love nice sock yarn that is on the cheaper side. That way you can afford to save up for some beautiful nice yarn too - a nice collection of both! And you dont feel as bad when the less expensive pair wear out - not as big an investment!

The words "enough" and "sock yarn" should not be used in the same sentence! ;)
Thanks for letting us know about this, Shandeh! There are no Hobby Lobbies near me, but I'm sure the product will be coming soon to other big box craft retailers. I've seen the new Lion Sockease online, but the color selections of the Red Heart might be even better...I'll look forward to it showing up in our local stores!

I went to TWO local HL's yesterday and neither one had any RH sock yarn! Bummer. I really wanted to see it (and buy some, of course :p)

Can't wait to see what you make with it!

I finally bought a couple skeins tonight. My Hobby Lobby still only has one skein of each color. I guess I'll make a pair with different colored toes and heels.

Fortunately, my HB does have more than one skein of each color in the RH sock yarn, but I haven't bought any yet. They also just got in the Lion Brand sock yarn and Paton's Kroy, but there is only one skein of each color for these brands.

I've never tried socks before, but I think I will now!

I think I must be stupid to post this...... But I'm broke and maybe if it sells out fast enough they will restock! LOL

Go for it! :woohoo:
Is it soft Shandeh?
I would compare it to Patons Kroy or another similar brand. It's not really soft....but it doesn't feel bad either. It reminds me of the feel of the first real sock yarn I used - "Forever Jacquard" by Lane Cervinia Tollegno.
:) Beautiful colors.
I love them too!
I really like to make socks with the natural shade of yarn, but that "Watercolor Stripes" is a nice color combination, isn't it?

I just finished my first sock (other than the baby sock I did to figure it out) with this yarn in the Watercolor. When I finish the second one already a 1/3 done I will post some picture on What'cha Knitting. I liked the yarn and it knitted well. I have some of the Lion sock ease to try as well. I have some nicer sock yarn that I got but I wanted to knit a couple of pair before I use it.
