Ok, I'm checked into a motel for the remainder of the weekend since I can't legally move my over sized load again until Monday so I got a chance to spread out the sweater and shoot a pic.

Still a ways to go but it's coming along.

Wow, Mason, it's really taking shape, isn't it? It looks perfect. I'm trying to remember what the yarn is, because it's got such nice definition. Beautiful color, too. Thanks for the update!

Absolutely fantastic, Mason. It looks perfect, and from the photo, it looks like all you've got left are the sleeves. Really wonderful job, and if memory serves, your first sweater?! Amazing.

The sweater looks just great and the color is beautiful too. I hope when I begin my top-down sweater (already have the yarn) I will do half as well as you have done with yours. You'll have time to work on it since you have a deserved rest this weekend.

Your log book a little full, Mason? I HATED being pulled over by the those people.

The sweater looks really good, are you finding all that st st a little tedious or do you enjoy it; it just depends on my mood whether I can settle down to it or not.

The great things about hotels are the pools, great for days like this one.

Great job so far Mason!:cheering:

The raglan increases look really good, what did you use for them? It doesn't really look like there are holes, which M1 often leaves.

You have a very nice looking 'stitch' Mason! Very uniform and even!
Great work! It isn't easy to make a handsome 'stocking stitch'!

Thanks for sharing, and enjoy the air-conditioning in your motel! :hot:

I love that sweater and have been watching your progress. I have a question about that yarn, though. Does it felt? It looks so soft, but I'd be afraid to make a sweater in wool....just in case. I know the yarn says it is hand wash, but does that mean it would felt?

ETA: I guess the reason I'm asking (I'm probably going to sound stupid for asking this) is because....what if you're wearing a 100% wool sweater and it rains or snows? Then you go inside where it's warm or something? Will that cause it to felt or shrink or do anything weird?

mason,

I am sorry I have not been following your progress. I am still learning this site and many others in my learning how to knit. I think the color is awesome and the progress well, simply put fantastic. I could only wish to be so talented. Dawn

Yes it certainly does felt. I've been using the felted join when adding new skeins as I go.

Yes I would imagine if you tried to machine wash it then it would probably felt and would certainly shrink. I don't think getting rained on or gentle hand washing will felt it though. The first hand wash will probably cause a small amount of shrinkage, but I've (hopefully) allowed enough extra ease for that.

I feel that once it's washed and blocked the first time it should be pretty much fixed and further shrinking from hand washing shouldn't be an issue.

I checked out your blogs Mason and I think your projects that you knit are incredible and it's nice to concentrate on making things for friends. The Sweater is incredible. The first time I made a sweater I was here many times a day every day going nuts because I didn't understand. I have only been knitting for about 6 months and have made 12 made projects mainly sweaters. I'm doing my first sweater right now in the round. You are definitely an inspiration...now if I can get my husband to knit lol. Fat chance of that. The only thing that frustrates me is the necks are always huge and I always have to do more decreases than normal. But you are right it's supposed to be for relaxation. I need to remember that. Thanks for your inspirational words.

Mason, I don't know HOW you do it: felt two pieces of yarn together , but earlier today I was trying to
felt two pieces of my woolen yarn - a NO go. So, gave up, lost my patience, and will weave in somehow or other (as usual). You do such great work, an inspiration to even some old gal like me. It proves: you are never too old to learn - and try. I even thought of getting out the steam iron and - thought - oh heck, just do what you can and continue. Keep up your good work and we are all thinkin' 'bout ya.
