Hello KHers, I haven't been here in a while. Wasn't getting much knitting done. I do finally have an FO though! :happydance:
This project was difficult for so many reasons... I have been inspired by the sock knitters of KH, and I really wanted to knit socks! I tried to make the little practice sock from SKS, but I got frustrated and so just dove in. I used the Yarn Harlot's plain sock recipe. In no particular order, I had a lot of trouble with:
the little yarn (Austermann step)
the little needles
the 5 needles (Knitpicks metal dpns)
the pattern
starting both socks in the same place so they would match
kitchener stitch
paying attention
getting all the little stitches back on the needles after I had to frog... several times... :teehee:
I am pleased to have a pair of socks, and I'm trying to live with their (my) imperfections. I should have used smaller needles for the ribbing, I have some ladders, and I started the toe decreases too early on the second sock so it's a little shorter and the stripes don't match at the toes. I'm still considering ripping that one back to make them match better, but right now they're on my feet and covered in dog hair already. And I really want to start a pair of Jaywalkers... (actually I started a pair but ripped them since I couldn't get them over my foot once I started the zigzag pattern - that sucker is tight!!)
So would you guys rip & fix? I know just a couple days ago the Yarn Harlot ripped something back that had a little mistake and of course I read it right after I bound off that second sock. ARGH!!!
