Awesome! I have sent you a PM with my address.

We also have a new knitter, via ravelry and we need to add her into one of our new blankets. I believe she has spoken with JJ, so her address should be added to the list.

Her name is tgriffin541. So let's include her in one of the new blankets! Probably put her in the middle somewhere since she will be new!

As soon as I receive the completed Ocean Waves blanket, I'll be happy to use those needles to cast on a new blanket. I can do the southwest one if none else has spoken up for it, if not I'll start another one!

Yes, I have spoken with tgriffin and I have her contact information. We should definitely add her on a blanket. Smurfs also has new knitters in the list, and I'm excited for them to join our project!!

I'd be happy to start the Southwest blanket if no one else has offered. This past week has been a really bad one for me as I've been suffering from Kidney Stones! I haven't had them this bad for about 5-6 years now but boy did it hit me hard this time. I've been in bed with pain pills all week and just now feel like knitting. Maybe I can venture out to Michales this weekend to pick up a pretty yarn to start the Southwest blanket. Let me know what you want me to do.

Secksiebrat
11-07-2008, 07:29 PM
I hope you're feeling better! I've heard kidney stones are miserable!

If you want to start the southwest blanket that would be great. Do we have volunteers to work on this blanket?

I'm happy to knit on this as well. Since we are a small group most of us will probably knit on each one!

I was offering to start it if no one else had offered. But as I read through the previous blogs I see that somebody did offer. I would be happy to work on Southwest when it gets going. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Strawberry Sundae arrived today. I'll work on getting a border put on in a few weeks.

Also I received an email from the coordinator in my area for the Project Linus organization. This is where the blankets that don't already have intended destinations will go to. http://www.projectlinus.org/

Here is what was replied to me!

"Danielle, we would be glad to get the blankets your group has made. I deliver to the hospitals, cps, casa and anywhere there is a need. If you are located in the Longview area, the drop off place is Sharmans Sewing Ctr. Please put your name/names of thoses making the blankets so I will know where they come from. Many times I receive a thank you card from the one that received the blanket and by putting your name on the blanket, they know who made it. Thanks so much. I will add you to my list. Donnie"

I will be sure to include any notebooks/papers that we write on so that it may be included with the blanket!

I just told her about our group today, ladies. I thought since we have a couple of knitters that need to take a break, we could use an extra knitter.

I'm starting on the Southwest blanket tonight.

We are a small group so I feel as though 2 blankets going at a time is suffiecent! Smurfs is headed to it's last knitter. Tyler's blanket has two more knitters left and then the SW blanket is about half way done.

It's probably time to start getting another one in the works with some of the new knitters.

The first blanket I'm happy to start. The list will go as follows:
Secksiebrat
SgtPam
yaya36
mannykim
Spanky51
Woolwinder

If anyone has any suggestions of some "themes" Feel free to shout them out! It will probably be another 2 or 3 weeks before I cast this one on. I want to give the other blankets a chance to get closer to completion. Thanks for all the work you ladies do!

I'm glad you liked the hearts. Actually a friend of mine made them. I'll ask where she found the pattern. She did a bunch last year and felted them. They're great decorations to add to other projects.

And did you figure out the peppermint twist is a tape measure? Pull on one of the twists. I saw it and just couldn't resist, with Valentines day coming.

My DD figures out that the peppermint twist is a tape measure. Silly old me :teehee: you know your getting old when your kids have to tell you how things work. I just thought that it would be so cute on my c-mas tree next year. Thank you so very much, I love what you sent.

I've been working on Tyler's Blanket and it should be done and ready to send by this weekend.

DH hit the mother load for me the other day. He went to do a bid for an elderly lady from our church. She was busy cleaning out her sewing room and sent him home with 2 industrial size garbage bags of yarn :inlove: After sorting through the colors we now have 4 13 gal. size bags of yarn to use for charity projects. My DD and I are so excited. Of course one whole bag is bright orange. She also sent me an old book on lace crochet patterns. It is a really old book but DD loves it. I told DH that he did good :p

Score! I had a friend that decided to make her family crocheted afhgans for Christmas one year. She bought yarn for each one and made about 14 then burned out. She gave me a huge bag of her leftovers. Some were partial skeins and some were full skeins. The yarn I used for Tyler's blanket came from that stash.:woohoo:

I received the smurf blanket in the mail today! I need to do a border and then it will be complete! The blanket looks great. I will post a picture after I get the border done. As it stands now we have 4 blankets going to the Linus Project (Strawberry Sundae, Ocean Waves, Candy Corn and Smurfs). Smurfs and Strawberry Sundae need borders and then I will box it up and take it to Longview! I have posted pictures of the other two completed blankets on my ravelry page (secksiebrat) and will post these as well when they are complete.

Tyler's blanket is almost complete and so is SW. I've got a few other little things to finish up and then I'll work on casting on a new blanket!

Thanks to spanky51 for doing 2 sections on the smurfs blanket since we were short a knitter!

Great work ladies!

Ok girls, here's a picture of Tyler with his blanket. Isn't it great too see the results of our work? Here's what his Grandma said on the CaringBridge site:

"Thank you to Robin and her Knitting Group for the blanket that is covering Tyler. Each section was knitted by a different set of hands. This blanket has been all over from New Mexico to Texas ~~ Thank you Ladies!"

And here's a link again to Tyler's CaringBride site (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/tylerwaynemcadams). He's home and doing well, but has a long road of rehab ahead of him.

Ok it's about time I got some "house cleaning" done!!!

We have 5 blankets that I will be taking to Project Linus! They all now have their ends weaved in!!!! I have taken pictures and plan to post them on the blog!! I will probably take them in the next week or two (Longview is a 45minute drive). Smurfs was the only blanket that the card didn't make it back, so I made one up and wrote everyone's first name and city/state who participated.

We have 2 new blankets that I have completed and will ship out Friday! I have heard from SgtPam and she is ready. I'm waiting to hear from Scrappygolden!

I also wanted to know if anyone would be interested in doing a preemie blanket and donating it to Shandeh? She has found a hospital close that would like them. Let me know if you're interested or would be interested in starting one! These will use sports/baby/dk weight yarn!

I hope everyone is having a good week! Easter is just around the corner!!

I have ment to post this on several occasions but I'm loosing my mind.. I think. I delievered the 5 blankets to the drop off point for Project Linus on Saturday. It's was at a local sewing shop and the ladies were happy to see me bring in some blankets. There was a basket full of other crochet blankets as well. I included my contact info so hopefully/maybe we'll get a thankyou note or a response.

The hardest part of knitting for charity for ME is that I always want to know where my knitting goes. I'd love to be able to see/hear about how it helped someone. But that's part of the "gotta know" in me! LOL.

Thanks again ladies for all the wonderful work. Even if we don't get any reponse, it'll be nice to know that we've helped someone!

We currently have 3 blankets in the works. 1 is a preemie blanket and will be going to Shandeh to donate to her local hopsital. The other 2 currently don't have any particular destination. Do we want to donate to Project Linus again or should we look at other options? I'm open to anything and everything!

I also just wanted to remind everyone that I'm due August 27th with a tentative c-section date of August 19th. I am high risk and I may go to bedrest, but at this point in time things look ok! As it gets closer to August, I may ask someone to take over for a month or two so we can keep things moving or we can opt to take a break. Let me know how ya'll feel about it!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

I have a blog that I put randomness on some days and I got a response from someone in the Project Linus Group. I wanted to share it!

Danielle - My name is Karen and I'm the assistant coordinator of the Longview Project Linus group. Loved - loved - loved your oddball blankets. I pickup the blankets, sew on the Project Linus label, and then transport them to Donnie our local coordinator who will distribute them to local hospitals and other groups. I'm sure these will go to either Good Shepherd or Longview Regional Hospital. Although we don't get to see our blankets distributed we often hear good reports back from the nursing staff of the response when given. Thanks to all your group - makes me want to learn to KNIT!!!

It's great to know the work we do is appreciated! Keep up the great work ladies! Thanks for being part of the Southwest oddball baby blankets!

TMNT arrived safely yesterday :happydance: It is so pretty and I can't wait to get working on it. Thanks for the little pencil case and stitch markers, Tracey. I use pencil cases to keep my knitting stuff with me and I have one for almost every knitting project that I'm working on. I also love the stitch markers, perfect for summer projects. Thanks a bunch, it was the perfect little pick me up that I needed yesterday.:muah:

Hi ladies - I'm sort of here! I have had unreal computer troubles the last month or so and I'm so sorry to have sort of dropped out of sight. I did find the sticky note that I'd written the next pinks and purples address on and got it sent off - glad to see it arrived!

I was thinking my computer problems were over because we bought a new laptop about a month ago. Can you believe we had it about a week and it stopped working? It's been back to Dell ever since and I'm no longer amused about it at all. That's a LOT of money to have spent and have nothing to show for it.

Anyway, sorry to whine and sorry to have disappeared. Hopefully I'll have a computer again shortly and will be more of a chatty member again! :)

Our 3 blankets that are currently in the works are nearing the end of their journey! I wanted to see how you ladies were feeling and if you wanted a break or to start a new set of blankets? I'm happy to arrange them to be started, but I'm a little less than 11 weeks (august 21st) until my c-section is scheduled and will be out of commision for a bit!

I know that I wont be able to work on any new blankets at this point until after the baby is born. If you would like to start up one or two more, I'm happy to coordinate it, but will need someone to start them.

How do you ladies feel? Right now we have only about 10 active knitters and a few others whom have taken some time off!

Creams premie blanket is in the mail and off to the next knitter.
As far as taking a break for awhile - that's fine with me. Summers can get kind of busy with school being out and vacations planned... starting back up in the fall or whenever is okay by me.:knitting:

Look on the bright side: this break will give us plenty of time to come up with new ideas for blankets; give us a much needed rest; and we have something to look forward to this fall. :)

IT seems that we are in agreement about waiting until this fall to start again. TMNT is complete and on it's way back to me. Pretty in Pinks and Purples and the Creamie preemie blanket are almost complete as well.

I am due for my c-section on August 21st. I figure we will start back in September or October. In the mean time, if anyone wants to start a blanket and have it ready for this fall, feel free to!

Just wanted to update you! I'm 36weeks today! I go see the doctor Monday, but I've been having contractions on and off the past couple of days. If you can't get a hold of me on here or ravelry, don't panic, I might be having the baby! Our last blanket is on it's way back to my house where I'll get it finished up and donated (probably not until this fall though). We will start fresh in Sept/October time period.

If anyone is interested in starting a blanket, please let me know and I'll be happy to send you the startup requirenments! Just keep it until we're ready to begin again!

Enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to working with you all again this fall!

Julie Amber Woods was born at 8:07am via c-section on Friday August 21st (Mikie's birthday). She weighed 7lbs 11.3oz. She was 19 inches long! Lane was only slighty bigger when he was born.

She has lots of dark hair, which is great for hairbows and headbands! I had enough indigestion, that it's no surprise she had hair!

She have chubby checks and everyone says she looks like Mike and Mikie!!

The c-section went ok for me. I have a lot of scar tissue, which caused the c-section to take a little longer.

We were able to come home today (Sunday). Julie and I are having some issues nursing, but we are trying to work through them. Hopefully as my milk comes in, she will latch better.

Lane loves his new baby sister. He even wanted to hold her after the 2nd day. He's going to be such a great big brother!

Mikie is the "dotting" father. He's so gentle and loving and looks really cute holding a little girl all dressed up in frills and bows!

Pictures to follow shortly! :)
