Falling Colors arrived safe and unharmed...It's going to be such a neat blanket when it's done.

Brenda, thanks for the little sticky notepad and the pretty stitch markers. I always seem to loose them, so it was a great surprise.

Corn Maze arrived last Friday...Tania thanks for the cute buttons. I had just the yarn for it, so it's done and ready to travel when I get the next destination.

I'm also ready to send Falling Colors on to it's next knitter when I find out where to send it.

I had to shop for yarn for Mossy Delight (it arrived about a week ago) so I'll be starting on it tonight and it should be ready to travel by the end of the week.

Lots of activity on blankets lately....
I'll try to post pictures later today so everyone can see how they are progressing.

It's fine Kris, I'm sure it's not a big deal at all. It probably should be written somewhere on the 'instruction' sheet. I'll add it for the others to know. The only reason I knew was Janet had mentioned it in one of the PMs she sent me.

I haven't been doing anything!

Confetti and Mossy Delight still have not been sent, I ran out of envelopes so will pick some up today and send those out tomorrow.

I also don't have any yarn for Falling Colors or Baby Sparkler so I need to go find the right stuff. I'm not a huge fan of crowded stores so I haven't wanted to go since Thanksgiving PLUS the weather has been crazy - lots of snow. It's looking okay out today so maybe I'll get there this afternoon.

Sorry for those expecting blankets - they'll get there soon!

Just a friendly reminder to weave in the ends of your section (and the ones ahead of you if by chance someone forgot - it happens). Also, start and end your section with an all knit row so the color change looks nice.

Question: was Grape Vine still headed my way? I'm not in a hurry for it, but was just checking if it was sent because it hasn't arrived.

Thanks!

Hi,

I've completed the border on Corn Maze and have posted it on our flicker page. I will also try to post it here.

The lumpy stitch at the outside edge is named the popcorn stitch so thought it fit this blanket.

Hugs and happy stitching,

Kae

PS. I managed to get the pictures inserted by using the insertion method I use on Ravelry and plucked these from my Ravelry project page enlarged photo - then right clicked on the picture, clicked on properties and then copied the url and pasted the url into the picture box here! I knew there had to be a way and glad I found one!!!

WOW, corn maze and falling colors look AMAZING!!! Wonderful job everyone. Kae, your borders are so pretty that it makes me a little concerned about the plain border I did for Key Lime Pie. All I did was a double crochet to make it look like the pie crust.

And what better type of crust (border) should a pie have than what you are describing. Sounds perfect to me.

Some of my borders are plain because that is what the blanket needs and some are fun such as the popcorn one on corn maze. I just try to make the whole thing come together as you did.

Hugs:hug: and eager to see the picture of Key Lime.

I finally got yarn for Baby Sparkler so it will be ready to send in the next couple of days to its border patrol (is that what someone thought we should call those of you that add borders??). Anyway, I also got my yarn for Grape Vine. If I can get the address for the next knitter for that one, I'll send it within a few days as well.

Thanks!

Confetti is now ready for its border.

I had no idea how difficult it would be to find an appropriate yarn for this blanket. I had hoped to end it with a dark blue, but sadly, I could only find a flecked white yarn.

We have several new blankets started for us to begin the new year!

hularac started a regular worsted weight blanket. She has named it "Blue Hawaii" .

pinnut3200 has started 2 blankets - "Rose Petals" with a color scheme of cream, pink and mauves and "Spring Fling" with green and floral colors.

Each of these blankets requires 5 more knitters and a border person.

Signups are open!

Use my design ideas to knit two blankets for your group.

Blanket 1: “GENIUS”
Black, White, and Red

Blanket 2: “SUPERHERO” :star:
Comic Book Colors

I think it will be interesting to see what each group does with this!
I will make a new blog, showing the progress of the blankets. Be sure to post photos, which I can use to highlight the work for your regions!

When the blankets are complete, I will send an additional blanket (knit by me) to your region, for you to donate in your area. So, everyone will be a winner! :)

Is there a button to link to the blog or this group forum that I can add to my blog? I'd love to be able to do that to "advertise" the group and show people what I do. If there isn't one, is there anyone in the group that knows how to create such a thing?

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but the button in my signature is one that was designed by auburnchick when the West Coast group first started. It's the same button that's above the blanket list on the blog. Or you can refer to this post (http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1130469&postcount=34).

Kae1crafts has started a new blanket. She named it "Wizard of Oz" and knit the first section in green for the Emerald City. It is to be a regular worsted weight blanket. Suggestions for knitting include, but are not limited to:

Dorothy's ruby slippers - ruby or red
Tin Man - gray
Cowardly Lion - brown or beige
Munchkin - blue
and Yellow Brick Road.

We will need 5 more knitters and a border patrol.

Signups are open. Please indicate your choice of character and color for this blanket.

I'm posting here too because I think there are members here that are not on Ravelry still....right?

I recently sent Candy Land out for its border and it has arrived but I wanted to share a picture anyway. This is one of those blankets that totally wasn't what I had pictured...perhaps it's because I have small kids, but I was imagining this one to be the color of a Candy Land game board when I opened it...it is not what I pictured but it's a sweet blanket all the same:

I finally started and finished my section of Superheroes. I wanted to do something a little special for my section but it required learning some new techniques and doing a few practice swatches after finding the perfect pattern. Next I had to weave in ALL of my ends:
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5176/5539637391_1c2403d61b.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/36933509@N04/5539637391/)

It’s definitely far from perfect (my section anyway - the Captain America section is GREAT), but I’m pretty proud of it, mostly because it took extra time and effort and I’m proud of myself for taking the time for it (I’m usually looking for the easy way out so this was big for me ;) )

I agree, Bailey... the colors of Candy Land were not at all what I expected, either, but it did turn out to be a *sweet* little blanket anyway - especially once it received it's pretty border from Kae. One of the reasons I chose my stitch pattern (the mint green one) is because the little squares reminded me of the squares on the Candy Land board and the cards.

I sent Wizard of Oz out today to Nancy and I'm so mad at myself for not getting a picture first! I ALWAYS a picture if not just to post here but also to keep for my personal stuff...it's fun to look at my pictures and see the blankets I've worked on. I added my blue section to represent munchkins (but it also sort of reminds me of the color of Dorothy's dress) to a beautiful "Emerald City" green. Confirmation: 0496 9001 2840 3909 2961

I also finally got Superheroes sent out to Tania. I'm really looking forward to seeing her section and all that follow it! Our group is the only one to post a picture of either of the challenge blankets but hopefully once the other groups see our blankets progress they'll start getting to theirs too! I can't wait to see all of the blankets!

Janet posted sign ups for Leprechaun, our newest preemie blanket. Here is a picture of it so far - it's ready to be sent out as soon as sign ups are complete. My vision for this blanket is to be in shades of green - we need more boy blankets :) I like the look of smaller stripes rather than the lager chunks of color (especially for the preemie blankets) so my section was done with 2 different shades of green but still totals 4 inches. It would be nice if other people would follow that idea, but it's not required, of course. To help with it, I'm sending along some yarn so you can add a small bit of it if you choose (or maybe you have your own 2 shades).

I'm sorry but I never took a picture of the complete blanket. Hopefully Janet can post one when she gets the blanket in the mail.

New Blanket

Cheryl1973 is starting a new regular worsted weight blanket. She has named it "Cinco de Mayo" and would like to see it done in bright colors.

Signups are open for 5 more knitters and a border patrol.

I'm not sure that this thread is dead but most of us are on Ravelry and not too chatty there either. I've found that these two threads stay quiet for a while and then chatter, chatter, chatter and then back to quiet.

I don't currently have any blankets and am not sure of the status of those that are making the rounds.

Hugs:hug: and have a great day.

I have started 2 new blankets for us to work on. I've chosen a spring theme for both of them. They will be regular worsted weight and require 5 more knitters and a border patrol.

#1 - Iris

#2 - Alma Mater 9 (think your school colors)

Also, Cinco de Mayo needs 2 more knitters. So are cheryl1973, ladylou, stisdale, pinnut and sandycrochet have volunteered to knit on this one.

Signups are open for alll of these!

The Mexian Flag is Red White and Medium Green if that helps.

Cinco de Mayo and Mardi Gras are both are on their way to Nancy. Sorry there's no gift. It's been a busy week! Was Lucky Charm sent yet?? If not, don't send it! I'm leaving soon and probably won't receive it in time!
