View Full Version : First Toy, Alan Dart's Tooth Trader (with a twist!)

Thought I'd a picture of my first big toy on here. It's Alan Dart's 'Tooth Trader' from 'Simply Knitting'. Only I gave her a bit of makeover!

Thanks Rita for all your help with this, I know I must have been a pain with so many questions but I wouldn't have finished without you nagging! :teehee:

Wow, there are some very talented knitters on this site. That is the cutest, most personable, fairy I have seen. I would gladly give up my tooth to her, (not now of course, I'm 52 years old and need my teeth. LOL)

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I wasn't sure about her when I finished but I'm growing to like her now. I think I just needed to step back from this project.

She's now sitting on a shelf in my sewing room. Doomed to never collect any teeth!

You said this was made "with a twist" and several people say they like the twist. How does it differ from the original? She is really nice!!

The original is very girlie, done in pastels. I gothed mine up a bit giving her black and red hair, and lacing up the front. I also put some small beads on her as I wasn't giving it to a small child.

Thanks. No lacing on the original, huh? That was a good idea. I like the star she had in her hair, was that beaded? Couldn't tell? Very nice overall look! Small children aren't losing teeth yet anyway, so small that they would eat beads. LOL
