If you're like me, you have a TON of UnFinished Objects (UFOs).
(I have TEN knitting projects in progress right now.)
I wish I could get them all completed, so I would have lots of pictures of FOs (Finished Objects) to post in the forum.

So, our August KAL is:
"Turn your UFOs into FOs!"
http://www.smilieland.com/graphics/astro0a.gif http://emoticons4u.com/trans/fahr10.gif

Gather up all the parts of that sweater, and SEAM IT!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3034/2721517884_0e5b69754c_t.jpg

Complete those half-finished socks,
and be ready to wear them in September!
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/78/163104057_abd028670a_t.jpg
Put together all those squares,
and have an afghan ready for Fall!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3219/2721464072_775c0a3e2b_t.jpg
Finish that baby blanket so a little one can enjoy it!
http://www.smilieland.com/graphics/babybox.gif

Dig through your knitting or crochet bag,
and pull out that Christmas stocking you started last year.
You'll be able to hang it on the mantle this year!

I don't know about you, but I'll be happy as a dancing Granny if I finish just ONE of mine!
http://www.smilieland.com/graphics/granny.gif

And the best thing about our KAL is....it won't cost a THING!

Here's sad...I've only been knitting for about a year and I have 2 UFOs...both are blankets for the 2 babies that my niece & nephew are adopting...the paperwork has slowed things down (long story) and I guess I got a little discouraged and haven't gotten back to them.

So...I'm in!

I sort of had an excuse for the past few weeks, but that ended Tuesday when the shipping container was delivered. I of course found all my UFOs last night while rummaging through my stuff to see what I could send with our missions team to Nepal tomorrow.

Count me in as well. I have a pair of socks that should have been done a few months ago. They really need to be finished by mid August. Perhaps this will be the motivation I need to get them done in time.

I also have a pair of fingerless gloves, another pair of socks and a rug that have been sitting around for a while that I would like to get to as well.

And while I'm at it, I'm finally going to frog the baby sweater that I never finished. There's no way it's going to fit the baby it was intended for.

I am sooooo in! I have a mother's day sweater for my Mom that desperately need to be finished.( Thankfully it was from this year so I am not too too late:teehee:!) I am doing a long sleeved version of Sitcom chic. I'm about half way through the sleeves, so I don't have that much further to go but I put it down because I was so bored with the miles stockinette. It will be nice to have it done in plenty of time for the fall.

Okay -- after gathering together all my UFOs, I discovered that several of them I didn't care for so I frogged them. Here are pictures of the ones I am going to put on my list to finish --

49381
Shells Wreath dishcloth found in Trendy Knit Dishcloths designed by Evelyn A. Clark. The color of the Sugar N Cream is potpourri ombre.

49387
Sun dishcloth also from the same book in a pale yellow Sugar N Cream.

49382
Round or Pinwheel Baby Blanket designed by Genia Planck -- actually making this as an adult sized blanket for a wedding gift. Red is the bride's favorite color. Using Bernat Satin & size 8 needles.

49384
Knitted Lei from Handcrafted Leis & Flowers volume 6
I started knitting this red & blue lei for Bug (one of my charges) to give to him when he arrived -- I got so busy & sick I didn't get to finish it & ended up buying one for him, his sister, and mother. I will probably finish it, but save it for when friends come to visit.

49385
Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow lei from the same book -- crocheted in two parts using J hook. I will finish this and put it away for guests.

49383
Kitchen Hand Towel designed by Clara Masessa for Kraemer Yarns. I'm using Cotton Ease in taupe using size 8 needles. Patterns (http://www.kraemeryarns.com/patterns/)(scroll down toward bottom).

49391
This is going to be a Elegant Comfort Shawl (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/60392-K.html?noImages=). I cast it on before August 1 but was hopping back & forth on whether I would still do it or not until yesterday. I'm using the Bernat Bamboo Natural Blends in "wicker" & size 11 needles.

Stitch pattern How to Garter Stitch a Scarf on the Diagonal found in the back of Scarf Styles -- thanks to the help of a lovely LPL reference librarian -- aka Elbowgrease on Ravelry. We've been playing phone tag this week trying to figure out what book it was from & it wasn't until I unpacked my pattern books I found some actual scarf patterns we cross referenced with patterns on Ravelry.

I can help you with that --

Right click on the image -- a box will pop up and at the bottom is "Properties". Click on that. Within the info is the "Address"/URL for where the image is stored -- I highlight and copy that address. Then go to your User Settings at the top of the page --> edit signature --> add in whatever written info you want to & then click on the "insert image" box within the tool bar (image of mountains & sun) -- make sure to allow pop ups --> paste the URL --> save the changes after previewing your signature.

I hope I got it all right.

 I'm not sure which way I'll go....probably this way and that way. This morning, I picked up the red socks I started long ago. I want to try to have them ready for my son's birthday in a couple weeks. :)
I've lost the pattern & source of where I found this garter-stitch diagonal scarf. I do remember it was in a book I borrowed from the library in Maine. When I looked on-line to see if I could find it, the patterns that came up weren't done in the same way. Thankfully, I remember enough of the pattern to finish it. I also lost the tag for the yarn -- do remember I got it at Craft Mania in Auburn, ME.
I found a few on Google - Diagonal Garter Stitch Scarf Search (http://www.google.com/search?q=diagonal+garter+stitch+scarf+pattern&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1)

I have put the button in my signature but not sure what I do wrong. every time I get a button the one I had before disappears. I see lots of people on here that have 3 or 4 buttons attached but for the life of me can't figure out how they do it.

My system is going to be work a little on this and a little on that go back and forth so I have a few different things to work on. Could not possible sit down everyday and only work on the blanket I am making I would go insane.

Although I am probably a bit insane already as I have just joined MS4. Could not help myself. I have been waiting for ages since I first saw the MS3 which I missed out on. I have the yarn and beads so it won't actually cost me anything. So I am actually using up stash which got to be a good thing, since I am driving everybody crazy with my yarn all over the house. Well I have till September to finish off some things then I will feel less guilty for starting something else.

When you edit your signature, go to the end of your current signature information, hit the space bar, and enter the rest of your signature information.

Do that again to add different things in your signature.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, Shandeh -- those are the ones I found yesterday. I wish I was able to call LPL Monday to ask them which knitting books I borrowed so I could check them against amazon. I don't think they are allowed to give that info over the phone because of privacy issues, but I would love to have the name of the book!

I finished my first UFO last night, it is now a FO:woohoo:

I started this wash cloth a couple of months ago got half way and it was put aside, spent about a hour and then it was finished.

49434

I have done two pattern repeats on my sock need to do two or three more. But at the moment the first sock is lost and it is driving me to distractions. I can only imagine that Maisey has run off with it and put it in one of the toy boxes. will have to go check.

Feels quite good to have at least one thing done, even if it is a small one.

thanks Holly I loved doing the pattern. I have found a few doily type patterns on Ravelry that is only around 40 rows as opposed to this one which is 35. so I imagine there would not be that much difference in size. I am thinking I might try one or two for the Olympic Wash cloth KAL.

I would love to join you, what a great idea!

My current UFO's are:

Easy Baby Cardigan-1, one sleeve left to do and ties. My gauge ended up being WAY off, so it will be more 12 mo size than newborn but still quite usable.

Easy Baby Cardigan 2- In correct weight yarn & checked gauge this time. Hood & yoke done so far.

Cabled scarf- been working on this for months now, a little at a time
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n263/simply_renee/Knitting%20projects/Eurostar-Wendysscarf.jpg
(a tired me knitting it on the Eurostar between London & Paris, on a Girl Scout trip- got back early June & haven't touched it since!)

Kitchen towel- still need to sew on a button!

Frida poncho- I am not really considering this a dire must finish

Baby blanket that I have yet to cast on but really, really need to finish I am also counting!

It is KP yarn but not the sock blanks. I used this (http://www.eunnyjang.com/knit/2005/12/techniques_selfstriping_yarn.html) tutorial to create the self striping.

Wow, I was impressed before you said you dyed it yourself! The pink/blue always makes me think of Sleeping Beauty and the fairies fighting over her dress color.

Thank you! I wasn't really liking the pink/blue combination but now that it's knit up I just love these colors together. I have enough yarn left over that I should be able to make myself a pair too. :)

OK I finished the hat last night... and it too small :gah: But it will fit a Babydoll , so it's now going to be Belle Christmas present... I do like how it looks... just wish I had checked gauge... But the strange thing is that I've made hats that fit with less stitches, just didn't realize the the ss would make it so much smaller. Anyway here is a pic...

Beautiful hat! If you decide you don't want to keep it, it would work perfectly for a preemie baby at the hospital! :)

But that is going to have to change I am going to have to limit my time between the two because I HAVE to fiinish the baby blanket in about a week or so.

Umm... can the WIP's include planned knits??? I have an xmas list that needs to be started, so techincally though they aren't OTN, they are in my head as OTN!
WIP's are a lace stole that I only have about 6 rows in, need to either complete or frog,
Simple summer jacket that is about 60% done, but it's not really a stagnant wip, I've been working on it a lot lately.
Monkey socks, I got one done then got sss.
A lace baby blanket for a friend, about 50% done.
A tank top started about 2 years ago, about 20% done, need to work on or frog.
All the fixins for some hedgehogs and felted slippers, just never cast on. oh, and a fuzzy cat. can't forget that.
Does anyone else have stuff they got only a bit into and set aside for years? I feel bad about the tank top and the lace stole :pout: They might be pretty if I finish them.
ETA: seriously, Dustinac, those mittens are lovely. just lovely. Good for you for finishing them!

I'm not doing well at all on this challenge. I got oddball #4 last week and am loving working on it. So Mom's sweater is sitting in my knitting bag waiting. I think I am going to force myself to work on it 15-20 minutes a day or I will never ever finish it! I was so excited to start it and I've done other sweaters in the past so I really don't know what is holding me back on it. I'm off to work on it now, I'm setting the timer!

I'm having problems finishing Belle's skirt... I'm just tired of the pattern. I only have like 8 rounds to go, and being that it's over 100, I really just finish it. I do think I'll get it done this month though... at least I hope I can knit 8 rounds and sew it up and thread the elastic by then....

I'm going to work on the afghans, but I don't think I'll finish them... they are for Christmas though, so that's ok...

And here are 2 more WIP's, a felted bag, needs to be felted yet and have the handles attached,

And my monkey socks. This pic is of the first sock, which is done now, just need to do the second one.

These are my 3 most pressing wip's, the first because I lurrrvee it, the second because it is a gift for my mom's bday on sept 5th, and the 3rd because sss has had me for about 4 months now.

the thing that makes me the maddest is that the yarn, Cleckheatons tencel wool, is such a lovely drapey yarn, so perfect for this jacket. I hope it frogs ok.

I can't believe I actually finished a knitting project!

I started this cushy blue baby blanket in September of 2007. I had almost finished it earlier this year, but ran of out yarn. I frogged it back past the midpoint, and added a different bulky yarn for the center section.

Last night, I finally completed it!

Nice!
I'm still plowing with my Hemlock Ring,:pout: arguing with myself...maybe if I finish this round, I can bind it off and say I'm done...NO!!!...............I won't meet my "End of August" goal as planned but I WILL PREVAIL and my "Pushing" self will MAKE me finish!!!
Hang in there, my friend!
I have several UFO's leftover as well.

Woo Hoo! I finished another one last night! :cheering:

The "Moonlit Forest" Oddball Shawl has been worked on by several knitters in the forum. I finished it up last night, and added a crochet border.

And 6 of us worked on the Barbie shawl:
me, knitknut, nadja la claire, stagebear, threesmom, and MaryB

So, thanks goes to everyone who helped to create our pretty shawls!

I think the first one is this hatRuffled Hat (http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=2996), but I couldn't find the other one at the site. I wasn't able to do a search for just hats & went into several categories, so I'm hoping someone else will be able to help find the link.

Love everyone's work. You have all done a marvelous job! I alas have not finished anything. I frogged a few things, got involved with too many things + work, plus knitting what dishcloths I could during the olympics and even started some new projects. I am focusing on finishing the diagonal scarf, because I can easily start & stop it & will be done this weekend.

Rita your son did a great job on this hat. Yours are not bad either, lol. Love the little flower hats, so cute.

Sandy could you post a link for instructions on how to do that crochet border. I have three blankets here that I need to do a border on so would like to make something nice like yours. The blanket is lovely.

Here is a couple of FO's completed just in time. first my Rainforest socks which I have had on the needles for 2-3 months now, only had 3 repeats of the pattern to do, so was really quick once I decided today was the day.

Next is a dress I made for Maisey, started it in the spring but found the recommended yarn was not really a summer yarn so I knew she would not use the dress until autumn so I lost interest. It is done now, a little big for her so she may get a couple of years wear out of it.:cheering:

Thanks Karina! :) I found the pattern in an old knitting book I've had since 1982. Here's how I did the shell border:
Do a single crochet border all around the blanket, then:
At the first corner, Chain 1
1) Skip the next stitch
2) Do 3 half-double crochets in the next stitch (all in the same stitch)
3) Skip the next stitch
4) Do 1 single crochet in the next stitch

Repeat steps 1 through 4 until you get to the next corner.
Do 4 or 5 half-double crochets in the corner stitch, then do steps 1 through 4 again across the next side.

Repeat this process until you do all the sides of the blanket.

When you get back to the beginning corner, slip the first and last stitches together. You're done!

This was a real bear to complete. I actually hated working on it, which is why it took so long. :pout:

I had originally, using the same yarn, completely finished it using the pattern on our KAL and Jared Flood's version with my extensions. It would never have been possible to block it with the pattern as it was. Sadly, :waah: I frogged it back all the way and made one more attempt to begin, using the same pattern but leaving out one of the plain knit rounds....It didn't work and frogged it again.

Now, either the yarn threw up its hands and decided to cooperate :tap: or my modified/extended version actually worked on the third try! :woot: :woohoo: :yay: :cheering:
