I love the Noro colors, and the shape of this bag, but I think it's a little too soft to hold it's shape. It's a birthday gift for my daughter-in-law and I think I'll add a lining before I give it to her. The yarn is Noro Kureyon 183, and the pattern is Sophie (http://www.blacksheepbags.com/sophie_bag.html). Instead of the normal strap, I made an extra-long I-cord and wove it through the top edge of the bag. I found the button at JoAnn's.

WOW - the colors are gorgeous !! I also really like the shape of the bag. I have been avoiding Noro b/c I dont' really like the "hand" (is that the correct work for not liking the way it feels while I knit with it?). I may have to revisit it as those colors are great.

That is a really nice bag. Well done you!
I love Noro wool. I'm making a jumper in Kureyon at the moment. The wool I have has lots of purple shades in it going through to yellow and bright treen! Looks really good. I've done the back and front but have the sleeves to do. Kind of got distracted by other things! lol
I haven't made any felted bags yet but I have several Noni patterns and really wanna make one!!! Just need the money to get the wool to do it.

Wow! I agree with everyone else - the bag is gorgeous! The colors are so beautiful, and that button really adds something special to it.

I'm curious how you did the strap. Are those the strap 'tails' hanging under the button? Did you sew the button on top of the strap to hold the tails in place?

Right, those are the strap tails, and the button is sewn on top of the tails. Here's a different view:

Thanks. I actually have 3 daughters-in-law, and two of them have birthdays this month. I really enjoy knitting for them, and they seem to appreciate the things I make for them. I have no daughters of my own, so I really enjoy my dil's.

Hi! I'm relatively new to the knitting world. I LOVE this bag. I have made one similar and loved it, but I'd love to make this one. Where'd you get the pattern? Yarn?

Here's a link to the pattern: http://www.blacksheepbags.com/sophie_bag.html
Unfortunately, it's no longer a free download, but I don't think it's too expensive.
And here's where I got the yarn:

It's colorway #183.

Have fun!

That's really cute. The button was the perfect choice. I think the thing that stops me from making more knit purses is my inability to sew a lining. Or to sew anything, for that matter.
