Please don't type all in caps, it's considered yelling. It should only be used for emphasis. Thank you. ;)

Here's a few free patterns I found -

Are you on Ravelry? Have you checked there?

Try going to www.knittingpatterncentral.com and in their directory, go to "socks". They have dozens and dozens of free patterns and something there should work. There may be patterns listed as "tube socks" or "sports socks", etc., or you may have to just click on a bunch (although it's probably safe to pass over "Mary's Lace Girly Socks in Pink":) ) and look at the photos and see what you like.
P.S. The reason people object to the all-caps thing is that it's hard to read. If it's a pain for you to use the shift button, just do the whole thing in lower-case:hug: .

No need to yell.

As already mentioned Knitting Pattern Central does have some patterns for those. Have a look at this one: http://priscillarogn.3h.com/pattern2.html

You can make them as long as you want. I plan to knit up some of these myself.

Have you checked out our pattern central forum? There's tons of threads on there about socks... click the little "search" feature at the top and have a look!

What about these? You could make them in gray or white. She's got them on a form so they look as if they have a heel, but there no heel shaping or gusset. http://knittingbunny.blogspot.com/2007_04_20_archive.html
