Im new to knitting and working on a Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Baby Teddy Cardigan. In the beginning it says to keep first and last 3 sts in garter st. Now I'm at the part "Neck Shaping", which says to decrease 1 st at neck edge EVERY row until 10 sts remain. So I knit the entire row, decrease at end, turn my work around decrease again then make sure the first 3 sts are knitted. Does this sound right? Thanks for any help someone can give me.

The best way to keep your first and last 3 stitches in garter and looking nice is to do the decreases on the inside edge of the 3 garters.

So if you work across the row and have to decrease at the end as you described, knit to within 5 stitches from the end, k2tog, k3.
This keeps the 3-stitch edge smooth all the way to the top.

Make sense?
