I've been reading a lot of links I found here about duplicate stitch. It sounds like something I want to try! Same with felting. Has anyone felted an item with duplicate stitch on it? If so, what happened? Can it be done and still look nice?

Thanks!

I made Booga Bags (http://www.blacksheepbags.com/booga_bag.html) for my nieces and nephew and since I used solid coloured yarn I wanted to jazz it up a bit so duplicate stitched a picture on each of them.

You can see them here (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Sajomaro) and here (http://flickr.com/photos/15130980@N03/2623747342/in/set-72157604372049186/). (the first link goes to my Ravelry project page and the second goes to my Flickr page.)

They're not perfect but is was my first attempt at duplicate stitch and the kids loved them.

Did you see the Knitty Gritty episode (http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_dkng/episode/0,,DIY_18180_43397,00.html) with duplicate stitch on a felted bag? They call it swiss darning.. but it's just another name for it.

I saw that episode and really want to knit that bag. Hmm we may just turn this into a class over at The Fuzzy Lamb. As for felting I've done several things now and REALLY like it. Felting works best in a top lad washer.

Thanks to that episode I found out how to do it. It's great when you want to change the color of the stitches without carrying yarn. I would like to use it for writing out letters and making designs.

I just have trouble making each "duplicate" stitch look the same. After I finished the first one I have a hard time keeping it tight when doing the 2nd, 3rd etc.
I also have trouble doing 1 above the other. I don't know why but I guess I have to keep trying.

Good luck
Heather

I think it would be a cute way to add something to felted clogs.:?? I think I will have to think about it and try to figure it out.

Those are awesome! What a great idea. I don't have hot water hooked up to my washing machine (long story) and have been thinking about doing that booga bag and felting it in a bucket or the sink. The idea of adding a design is amazing!
