Hello.
I am Nao, I am trying to knit a teddybear from Debbie Bliss Simplybaby, page 67.

I could not understand this below, please will you help me?

Body

Make 2 peices, beg at shoulders.
With size 3 needle, cast on 22 sts.
K 10 rows.
Cont in garter st and inc 1 st at each end of next row and 6 foll 6th rows. 36 sts.
K 7 rows.

I don't understand what 6 foll 6th rows is.

Thank you so much for your help!

Not sure about the '6 foll 6th rows'...is this typed correctly?

1. k inc both ends this is the 'next row' ...24 sts
2. *k
3. k
4. k
5. k
6. k
7. k inc both ends this is the 6th row ...26 st

It may be asking you to repeat the last 6 (from *) 6x. Working the seq (from *) 5 more times...after what I posted above... (which is 10 more incs) would give you total of 36 sts.

This is just a guess based on what you posted.

Yes, you would increase every 6th row for 6 times until you get to 36 sts.

suzeeq,

Thank you so much for your help.
So you are saying the same thing that cam90066 said?

So every 6 rows, I have to inc 1 st X 6.
I think I get it.
Thank you. Nao

No, you inc TWO sts...one at each end of the row.

Knitting Mitchie,

Thank you for the tip.
I know it seems like a lot of work after knitting.
I don't know I can do this.
I am a beginner!

I am also knitting a baby Shrug.
I could not understand "cast-on" after knitting some rows.

Like this...

Back, front, & Sleeves

Work in one piece.
With size 8 needles, cast on 8 sts.
P 1 row.
Beg with a k row, work in St st.
Cast on 13 sts at beg of next rows. 60 sts.
Beg with a k row, work 30 rows in St st.
Change to size 8 circular needle.

Shepe Sleeves
Cast on 8 sts at beg of next 8 rows. 124 sts.

Are "Cast-on" and "increase" same thing?

No. Check out the vids for Cast Ons and Increases to see the difference. Do either a Knitted or Cable CO to add sts to the existing rows.

ETA: Casting on to existing rows is very common question. Some existing threads that might interest you:

I am making Debbie's baby shrug right now.
I have a 8 side circular needle with 124 sts and making a back of shrug.
I finished Back, front, & Sleeves and shape sleeves. and then this below.

Here is my question:

Divide for fronts
Next row k52 sts, leave these sts on a spare needle, bind off next 20 sts, k to end.(total 124 sts)
Cont on last set of 52 sts for left front.
Work even for 5 rows, ending at front edge.
Next row(right side)k3, M1, k to end.
Work even for 3 rows.
Rep the last 4 rows 4 times more and the inc row once more. 58 sts.
----------------------
I did knit 52 sts and binded off 20 sts, and knit 52 (left sleeve)st.
I could not understand after that. I worked in St st for 5 rows.(Left side 52 sts) Is that right?
And how can I go to Next row(right side) k3, M1, k to end if the working yarn is left side. I wish I could post my phote, but I don't know how.
Thank you.

I think it means knit to the end of the set of sts you're working on, not all of them.

I think it means knit to the end of the
set of sts you're working on, not all of them.
So you mean,
Cont on last set of 52 sts for left front.
Work even for 5 rows, ending at front edge.
Next row(right side)k3, M1, k to end.
Work even for 3 rows.
Rep the last 4 rows 4 times more and the inc row once more. 58 sts.
for the left 52 sts side?
So why does it say "Next row (right side)"??

Even though you're only working on 52 sts, there's still a RS/WS to them. After you've done the 16 rows, your next row will be a RS row.
