Ok, I was just browsing the men's pattern section of Interweave Knits for a scarf pattern to make for my dh when I came across this little beauty:

Is this a candidate for the old "You knit What?"site or what?

I like the FIT of the sweater just not the design. If I knitted it I would do it as a solid color.

I showed my husband and was like YEaaaaaaaaah.........NO

I tried to imagine any guy I know wearing it. Wouldn't happen.

I saw that a while back and thought the same thing---nice try, but I can't think of a single man who would wear such a thing!

How can they expect people to pay to make that? Like everybody said, there really isn't a guy who'd wear that.

I don't personally know any women who'd wear it either! It looks kind of like he's wearing a 'spat' sweater (http://www.afunkyshoeandboot.com/Mensfootwear/spatshoeswhite.html).

I used to threaten to make my dh this horrible poncho with a intarsia horse in front of a sunset that Knit.1 referred to as a "mancho". They even had this young Fabio lookalike modeling it.

It was about time for a replacement threat.

I know all of you want to see the mancho.
Oddly, it seems no one on Ravelry has attempted the mancho.... It was in the Spring '05 issue of Knit.1. Next to the photo it says, "We're calling this one the man-cho - ideal for that outlaw type who won your heart".

What was this designer thinking?

Quiltlady
11-23-2008, 04:00 PM
I guess it would depend on what kind of "man" it is. My dh sure wouldn't want it.

MerigoldinWA
11-23-2008, 07:45 PM
I don't get the off-set buttons and it needs a bow tie (it is rather spat-like done this way). But the idea is cute. It takes a joker type guy to wear it I think, it is not "normal" every day wear, but I think it could be cute with straight buttons and a tie. My husband wouldn't wear it either but I think some guys could pull it off.

OMG that's awesome! That's what I need, a threat! Thanks for the idea. I am going to have to save this picture to show to my husband when he gets home from work. It helps that he won't wear anything knit but socks and hats! LOL

It's very unusual.

Why in the world would someone want a tuxedo feature on a man's polo shirt?

Kinda like adding shoe laces to gold-sequined pumps!

Or, adding a sandpaper collar to a negligee!
