I have some old wool yarn that's purple and I don't like the color. What would be a good `flavor' to overdye it with and what color might I get? I was thinking some sort of red might make it plum or maroon, possibly wine. Any thoughts? And does it matter - cherry, strawberry...?

Cherry will give you a deeper color. I had some purple yarn that I got from a thrift store sweater. I didn't care for the color so I dyed it with Black Cherry kool-aid and it came out a deep plum color. Very pretty...

Okay Black Cherry it is. This yarn is from a sweater I knit in High School, and I don't like purple anymore, but want to use the yarn.
