Hi, we are back from Mexico, and we had a great time!
Whenever I have the good fortune to be able to travel, I like to look for the traditional, handcrafted items that are indicitive of the culture I am visiting. Unfortunately we never got out of the tourist zone on this trip to do so. Industrialization has come to even the most remote corners of the world, and it has become increasingly difficult to find those handmade items and old-world skills. The only sad moment of my trip.

I'm glad you had a good time! It's been a long time since I've been down there. We stayed in San Jose del Cabo when we were there and it was not all that touristy at the time. We were able to walk to the town square and enjoy the shopping. I'm sure all that has changed now though.

When I was 10 I went with my dad on a cruise to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. Cabo San Lucas was not touristy at all back then !!!! It was the smallest of the ports we visited and there were little fishing boats at port (locals only not for the gringos fishing trips now a days :teehee: ) There were all sorts of handmade wares right near port too. I haven't been back there since but I hear Cabo San Lucas is a tourist mecca now and there are lots and lots of partying younger people at certain times of the year.
