Can anyone direct me to a website that compares different types of wools used in yarn? I'd like to learn more so that I make good selections for the things I want to knit.

TIA,
Marge

Something like the Craft Yarn Council of America (http://www.yarnstandards.com/weight.html)'s site, maybe?

Or more like Yarn Forward's web page (http://www.yarnfwd.com/tension.html) on gauge/tension?

Or do you mean something more like Sheep 101 (http://www.sheep101.info/wool.html)? Just about every nation that raises wool sheep has a website out there to promote their sheep, so Google if you want info on a certain kind of sheep.

Oh, and I just ran across this info on British sheep on I Knit's website (http://www.iknit.org.uk/greatbritishsheep.html)!

Knitter's Review (http://www.knittersreview.com/yarn_manufacturer.asp) is another good source for yarn info, and how different yarns knit up, and the pros and cons.

In addition to the websites given this book is great! I got it for Christmas and like it a lot. I know they have it at the library here so maybe you can check it out where you live.

The Knitter's Book of Yarn (http://www.amazon.com/Knitters-Book-Yarn-Ultimate-Choosing/dp/0307352161/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1232649263&sr=8-1)
