I would like to make a friend some thumbless mittens for her baby. I am going to use cascade 220 and I am wondering if I can knit them up and then hand felt the mitten part and leave the ribbed cuff unfelted. I want them to be super warm but I've never tried to hand felt just part of something..would this work?

It shouldwork, don't see why not. :think:But won't the cuff then be too much bigger, fitwise?

I think it was this pattern on Ravelry that did this.. I "think" they picked up around the slipper top after it was felted to knit the unfelted ribbed top.

I would think you could do something like that for the mitts. Or use a yarn that doesn't felt for the top part.
