Hi Everyone,
New knitter and new member needing a bit of advice.

I have a friend who will be giving birth in June and I want to make her a baby blanket. Due to my newbie status, I like the idea of knitting squares (easier to tear out and start over if its a square) but I don't know what stitch to use. I've looked at using the moss stitch, the seed stitch or the roman stitch. I'm not sure what would look/work best to become squares that sew together into a baby blanket. Does anyone have any advice? Also, how many stitches should I make my squares?

Thanks for the help.

You can use a bunch of dishcloth patterns for a sampler and to tryout different types of stitches. Here's a site with pages of them Dishcloth Patterns (http://www.groupepp.com/dishbout/kpatterns/nojavaindex.html)
