My husband threw a pair of wool socks that I made in the dryer so now they are totally unwearable unless you've had your feet bound. How do I undo it? I heard somewhere that you could boil felted wool in salt water and then stretch it out. Has any one heard that and do they know the details. Cindy:wall:

The "fabric" of your socks will always be "felt" ... you might be able to stretch the size a little bit but never to the original size and the stitches won't ever be "individual" ... so sorry.... Also, the felting probably happened in the washing machine.

Felting is permanent. I suggest cutting them up and using the felt for coasters and making him a new pair of socks with superwash wool.

Or you could find someone who has smaller feet (a child?) to give them to.
