I need help. The instructions for this baby sweater are confusing to a relative newbie

It reads:Finishing: NECK: Pick upn approx 76 stitches using main color and size 5 circular needle. Join in the round(?), change to ruffle color (this i Get) and work for about 6 or 7 rows in stockinette , knitting every round(???????????) for about 6 or 7 rows. Please explain

Is it the knitting every round to get stockinette part that confuses you? When you are knitting in the round, you do knit every round to produce stockinette. If you knit one round, and then purl one round, you'll get garter stitch.

This is because you aren't turning your work. Instead you are knitting continuously.
