This is a pattern I got from this site. I wanted to make some baby booties for a co-work but was scared off when I looked at patterns. I am new to knitting. I finally decided to just go for it and try it. I had one sock almost completed but it seemed like it was inside out when I was decreasing the gusset. Is that right or did I do something wrong? I think the gusset is what is confusing me. by the time I start I am down to two needles, is this right? If any one can give some pointers that would be great. I tried watching some diff videos but the heel seemes to be a littledifferent than what the videos show.
Here is the link and I have copied the parts I think I have messed up.
http://www.p2designs.com/pdfs/ptn-SoxSlipper.pdf

turning the heel:
row 1: k11, wrap next stitch, turn
row 2: p6 wrap next stitch, turn
row 3: k7 wrap next stitch, turn
row 4: p8, wrap next stitch, turn
Repeat rows 3 and 4, increasing 1 additional K or P stitch until
all side stitches are consumed. End with a purl row.
gusset:
Change to Color A
Knit to the center of the heel. Using a spare needle, knit across
the remaining heel stitches. Pick up and knit 6 stitches from the
side of the heel flap and knit one stitch in the gusset corner
(Needle 1). Knit in across needle 2. With needle 3 pick up and
knit one stitch in the gusset corner and then pick up and knit
stitches from the side of the heel flap. Knit the remaining heel
stitches.
Stitch count is (15, 16, 15) respectively.

I am not sure how to get back to all three needles????
gusset decrease:
Rnd 1:
NEEDLE 1: Knit until the last 3 stitches, k2 tog, k1.
NEEDLE 2: Knit across instep.
NEEDLE 3: K1, SSK, knit around.
Rnd 2: Knit around
Repeat these 2 rounds until total stitches equal 32. Transfer
stitches as necessary so that you have returned to your original
stitch placement. (16, 8, 8)

Thanks
Marie

I think I kind of have gusset figured out. Well not sure but I ended up with three needles and the requested amont of stiches. I am still wondering where the RS of the sock is. Is it inside so as I work each needle it is facing me or is the right side facing outwards. I am working counter clockwise is this correct?

Thansk again for any help.
Marie

This will be my first completed project with DPNs(if I can figure it out). I have messed around and knitted with them and just got the feel of working with them but haven't tried to omplete a project.

So I figured out what I was doing wrong and why my socks seemed to be "inside out". I was trying to keep the stuff I was knitting going down. I watched a few videos again and realized my mistake.
I found a new pattern for mini socks and I was able to knit one tonight and it worked....well kind of. I still need to finish the toe but it worked......I am so excited!!!!!!!

Thanks
Marie

I do have one more question.

stockinette on straight needles in knit 1 row purl one row right?
Does it mean something different when working in the round with DPNs?

Thanks
