I have some katia Azteca yarn. It states 50% Wool and 50% Acrylic on the label.
Can this yarn be used for felting?

I don't think it will because it has acrylic in it.

You could to some thing with it where the pattern might be hidded by felting.

my understanding is that it has to be 75 or 80% wool for it to felt

I'm pretty sure it needs to be 100% animal fiber in order for it to felt and then some whites will not felt

I was recently knitting something with some yarn that was 85% wool/ 15% silk. It said hand wash on the label. I wanted to see how or if it would felt so I knit a swatch and tossed it in the washer and dryer with a load of laundry. It didn't do a thing..did not felt at all. I've heard of other yarn that was supposed to be washable wool that felted a bit. I seriously doubt it will do anything, but best thing to do is make a swatch and test it.

Paton's SWS is 70% wool and it felts really well, and I've heard that some yarns that are 50% will. What you can do is knit a swatch and see what happens with yours.
