Does anyone know of a free pattern for a child's (size 4 and up) top down cardigan (without a hood; prefer without a collar) that may be available?
Many thanks!
Kathleen

I love that cardigan Jan! Thanks for the link. It's on my list of things to do.
Question: Am I correct in thinking this is never joined on the needles so it doesn't matter if I use a 32" size 8 circular instead of the 24"?

I made this cardigan for my 6 yo daughter last fall, it came out really cute. Just a warning- the pattern is written for 3/4 length sleeves and a very cropped sweater, even though it doesn't look that way in the picture! Just increase the length of the stockinette sections if you want a regular length sweater, that's what I did.

Correct. You don't join on the body. The sleeves are done separately and flat on this pattern. I would probably do them in the round myself.

Sorry, I meant to answer that question, too. The body is knit back and forth. I did the sleeves in the round and it worked perfectly. :)

Thank you! I was reading around Ravelry from the people who have made the sweater and they've all said the same thing. It comes out quite different than what was shown. I, too, want to make it as pictured. It's so darn cute!

BTW, just for the record, this one isn't top down, it's bottom up. But it's just as easy. :)
