I LOOOVE this scarf!! The yarn is maybe a little bit splitty, but very soft. The pattern is awesome with huge, 16-stitch cables. A quick, easy knit with a lot of texture. Canít wait to wear it Ė it'll probably be next winter! The pattern is Manitou Passage Scarf (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/manitou-passage-scarf), a free Ravelry download. The yarn is KnitPicks Swish worsted in Fired Brick.

The cabling on that is SO cool. It kind of reminds me of the videos I've seen of snakes in the desert.

ANOTHER WINNER!

I notice that your scarf is modified a bit. The edges are much cleaner and nicer than the model scarf. (I don't like the garter stitch borders of the model scarf.)

What did you do, Slim, to clean up the edges of your scarf?
Just cast on 6 fewer stitches (3 st at each end x 2) and immediately began with the K1P1's?

So here's yet another scarf that I must make to follow in your footsteps! It is a very classy, subtle beauty!

BTW, did you also have trouble downloading the PDF version? I kept getting error messages. The PDF wouldn't load right. It was a BLANK.

Thank you! I cast on 50 stithes instead of 54, slipped the first stitch of each row and knitted the last. I didn't have any trouble with downloading the pattern, but I did it quite some time ago. I just tried it again, and it worked fine.

Very cool scarf. My middle daughter has never been a crafter, but to my surprise she knit a couple of scarves after I showed her how so she could help her daughters who wanted to knit. I later went to visit and helped her do a simple scarf with regular cables. She later told me she wanted to try to make a scarf that was just one big cable. She hasn't actually done anymore knitting or tried that idea, but this is close to that idea and turned out so cool.

Thanks for the pattern information. Your yarn is beautiful too, I love the red. Very nice, neat edge treatment.

That is just beautiful! I actually know where the Manitou passage is. I spend time watching the sun set over it every summer.

What a beautiful scarf, Slim, really pretty.

(Have to say that it doesn't remind me of snakes in the desert, though.:teehee: )

Off to copy the pattern with your tweaks added in.
