Here's something else I finished a few weeks ago but I'm just now getting around to taking a picture. This was a free pattern from knittingpatterncentral.com. I really like the ruffled bottom edge. I did make it waaay longer than the pattern called for since I'm not a teenager anymore.;)
Thanks for looking.

That's so cute! Did you use the yarn suggested in the pattern or something different? I wonder if a light-weight yarn would make it a summer skirt?

Darn...I just looked for the pattern and I don't think it's posted any more...??

Hi, Pam
I didn't use the exact yarn called for, but I did use a worsted weight yarn...from Knit Picks, I think. It's been a while since I finished it. Hopefully, I still have the pattern in my notebook. I'll look and see if I can find the website/blog where I found the pattern.

Thanks to all for the kind words.
I found the pattern on knittingpatterncentral.com, but it's no longer there. It came from Creative Knitting magazine. I haven't tried, but it may be somewhere on their website. I can't find the pattern right now (I may have thrown it awayhttp://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/images/icons/icon9.gif) It was really hard getting started as there were over 750 cast on stitches to begin with which had to be joined in the round. I had to do the join after knitting several rounds of decreases until I had a manageable number of stitches on my cable that I could make sure didn't get twisted, then go back run a small seam in that spot. But, after that, it went very fast. I love it and can't wait until next winter so I can wear it more.

This skirt is simply DIVINE! And being knit in the round...really adds a smoothness to the skirt part! I really love knitted skirts!

:think:I think I have a VOGUE magazine that has a ruffled edge skirt. I'll rummage in my magazines in a minute and look for it. Maybe someone could get a close version of your wonderful creation!

Be back in a sec.....

I did find my pattern...it was from Creative Knitting magazine, 2005. I couldn't pull it from their archives as they didn't go back that far. Would it be illegal to scan it and attach it here?

So much for memory! :eyes:

I found the skirt that I remembered. It's in the SPRING 2007 Interweave Knits, directions pg 72/73.

http://www.interweaveknits.com/images/backissues/toc_spr07/home/indigo_rip_skirt134.jpg

SPRING 2007 (http://www.interweaveknits.com/backissues/SP_07.asp) back issue available.
Click the link and you can view the contents of the issue.
This is the issue that featured the famous Dollar and a Half Cardigan by Veronik Avery.

The back issue is $10.

 I like your FLIRTY SKIRT much better, but maybe this Indigo Ripples skirt could be modified to include that darling bell ruffle edge, which is BTW, called the petite bell ruffle in Nicky Epstein's book called 'Knitting On the Edge'. I used this ruffle for my Celtic Cable Aran blanket a couple years ago. I love it.

You gave us the number of cast on stitches you used, and by that, we can determine how many stitches are decreased out by the time the little bells are finished. Then the skirt is work upwards from that number of stitches.

A bell or two could be added if you need more stitches to 'end up with' to begin the skirt itself.

How many stitches would be cast on for the other sizes? That would help us determine how many to cast on for our own size.

Your skirt looks like a small, maybe a ladies' size 34"? 36"?

Anyway, your skirt is very inspiring, and we don't see many SKIRTS here in the Whatcha Knitting! This was refreshing to see!

I found the pattern for sale on Ebay for $2 plus 40 cents shipping.

It is actually titled the SASSY RUFFLED SKIRT, (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250294772412&_trksid=p2759.l1259) and the description is that it's a flirty skirt style due to the hemline treatment.

It's definitely flirty! And too short for me, too. I like your longer version!

Thanks to our member IMRACHEL for helping us find the pattern!
It's on Ravelry, but I couldn't locate any links that worked, or actually lead to the pattern.

That is so beautiful!

I think it could be adapted to fit my DGD and look little girlish, that would be very cute.

Very nice. I have no idea how you managed to count 750 stitches. The most I ever cast on was for a scarf knit lengthwise and I wanted to tear out my hair. The color is really pretty.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. And, yes...it IS the Sassy Ruffled Skirt from 2005 Creative Knitting magazine. I made the next to largest size cause I ain't a little petite creature, but it started with 540 for the smallest size, then 594, 666, 720, 774, and 846 for the largest. There were 31 rows in the bell ruffle before starting the stockinette for the body of the skirt.
