View Full Version : Help with an old pattern

My aunt Sophie is having trouble with a pattern from a 1998 issue of Knitting Digest. It's called the woods jacket, and when she gets to row five, it's just not working. I can scan in all of the directions, if someone would be willing to help?
Thanks so much. Kim

Please don't scan in ALL the pattern, that's a copyright violation. If you can type in the rows before and after (4-6) we can help you. Scans aren't always easy to read.

Thank you. How is it not working when you get to row 5? Do the color changes not work, or what?

She said it's just not coming out right, she said the colors are not lining up right. It's hard to understand for me, and she's 90 and not computer savvy. I made sure she switched to the bigger needles, so that's not the issue.

based on the instructions, the colours do not line up. or at least the "A" stitches do not.
The first couple rows give you ACACAC........CA
Then When you switch colours you get BABABA...AB
So your "B's" will be over the "A's: of the previous section, and the A';s will now be over the C's.

Yeah, they probably won't stack on top of each other, but the colors will be alternating.

Is there any way to fix this pattern? She's pretty eager to make this jacket.....
