Good afternoon/evening/morning fellow crocheters. I come seeking your vast wealth of knowledge of the crochet world. Somewhere out there, there is a person who knows the name of this stitch. Its a variation of a double crochet but the stitch is worked in the row below the current working row. As soon as my truck makes it back home (DH is out working) I will take a picture of it. I am also in search of the pattern for this particular afghan so I don't have to do the tedious and eye straining of writing the pattern down. My mother made this afghan but has misplaced her pattern and my afghan needs to be repaired since a mouse decided to bed down in it.

The afghan is Angels on a single crochet background. The Angels are "raised" by the unknown stitch that almost looks like cross stitch but its crocheted not separately done.

That reminds me of a knitted lapghan my mother made. It uses raised stitches on a stocking stitch background. I don't know what stitch she used.

this site shows a multitude of stitches, with videos. Maybe you'll find something there... I find it useful for fancy stitches.

Thanks for the link. I didn't find it based on the descriptions they provided but that doesn't mean its not there. I will try to take another picture of the afghan today with a really closeup shot of the stitch. Maybe someone will recognize it.

Yes, I'm sure someone will recognize it. I didn't use many different crochet stitches, so this doesn't look familiar to me.

I'm not sure, but to me it looks like a bouillon stitch. Try googling it, and you should find instructions on how to do it. Good Luck!

I found the stitch and the pattern. The stitches are SC Bobble and DC Bobble stitch and the pattern is Angels Everywhere by/from Shady Lane.
