I have just finished a lace pattern afghan with alpaca yarn. What would be the best thing to wash this with? I know the yarn is dirty because this project took a long time to make and I also want to try to tame down those loose fibers that covered me while I was knitting this. Any suggestions on what is the best thing to use when I soak the afghan? As always, thanks for your wonderful information.

I like this, I use it for everything hand knit. I have a pair of alpaca socks and after I wash them they are super soft and nice.
