Anyone who's knitted a purse, if you chose not to knit handles or straps, where did you find purse handles? I've seen several handknit purses with very cute handles, but I wouldn't know where to find them.

Joanns carries them, not sure about Michaels or Hobby Lobby. You can also get them online.

I've been wondering the same thing! I have found a few places online to order them from and can share the links. I can't, however, speak for the companies. because I have never ordered from any of them. I just found them while searching for purse handles myself.

If anyone has ever used these companies, maybe they can let us know how they are.

I work at Goodwill and I sometimes buy purses, then take off the handles and use them on my own knitted purses.
You can get a purse with cute handles, remove the handles from the purse, and use them for your project. At my goodwill, purses are only $3.99 each (cheaper than the bamboo handles I got at Michaels for $5 on sale).

Also, you're recycling perfectly good purse parts that would eventually probably be thrown out.

I also saw on here that one girl re-used a belt. Also try sewing stores, where I live those are the stores who carry them. But yay to recycling handles from another purse!! I think that is an awsome idea, and I don't think the old purses would mind either:)

Yes, that's a good idea about removing them from other bags! I had a Lancome or some makeup bag giveaway that had beautiful handles but an ugly plastic body so I cut the bag away. (I've yet to knit the bag but I will!)

I recently found a store in the garment district of New York that has an unbelievable selection for the lowest prices I've seen. I'll have to look and see if they have a website, they are really enormous and wonderful prices. It's next to the Fashion Institute on 39th street.
