Hi I'm in need of help on this pattern as its driving me crazy!

I started on the back of the cardigan, I am now on Next Row (WS), what I don't understand is the number of stitches I'm asked to increase and decrease as it doesn't add up to the 112 stitches I'm supposed to end up with (I started with 100).

It would have been great if there was a picture of the back pattern.

Being stuck on that part, I have finished both sleeves and have even attempted the established smock pattern which I think is very difficult.

If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I take it you're working on the 2nd size which starts with 118, then you dec 18 sts leaving you with 100. Then you you dec 7 sts over the first 23 sts, place your marker, inc 26 sts over the next 54 sts (that would be something like k2, m1), place marker, and dec 7 sts in the last section (should be 23 sts) leaving you with 112. They could have worded it better and had you place the markers on the row before and said to dec 7 sts from beg to first marker, inc between the 2 markers and dec from the 2nd marker to end of row. But they didn't.
