I made this blanket in Shepherd of NZ 4ply - its a lovely soft baby wool - for my new niece Maeve. There are 5 separate panels - 2 are a leafi insert, the other 3 are a variety of different stitches, with a square of diamond lace in between. It has a simple garter stitch border. Its my first project of this kind - I've mostly just done baby & kids jumpers etc before, so it was quite a big deal for me! I'm really pleased with it - hope Maeve is too!
I had planned on knitting in her name & birthdate, but it didn't work the way I had envisaged, so we're making that square into a teddy bear's blankie!!

That Shepherd baby wool is soft isn't it. It is perfect for a baby shawl/blanket and wee clothes.
