I am fairly new at knitting and a true left handed knitter... tried it right handed and it just didn't feel right. I've mastered knit and purl, but my decreases all slant the wrong way. I've discovered I need to reverse them (ie, k2tog slants left instead of right), but I can't get a smooth right decrease with SSK. Anyone have other suggestions?

That's right, you'd just swap the decs for the reverse as written. Instead of SSK, try slip 1, knit 1, psso and see if that helps. Even right handed knitters have trouble sometimes making the left and right slant decs match. Don't stretch the slipped st out too much, and remember - a lot of the uneveness comes out with washing or blocking.
