Hi, my name is Sean. I'm new to knitting and new to this site. My first three projects were a scarfing disaster a hatting bad job and finally a sucessful hat with a k2 p2 from start to finish. Well now that I've patted myself on the back for the last day and a half I'm would like to knit a simple stitch sweater with two straight needles. Rib stitch to start and maybe k1 row p1 row through out, maybe use two colours. All I can find on the internet is complicated stitch patterns. Appreciate any help. Just dont tell any of my friends I've started knitting might lose my macho image.

There are lots of male knitters here, you'll get no laughs from us!

That's a pretty specific request. After you've gotten your first sweater done you may want to consider designing your own.

Here's a few to check out.

This one is pretty simple and looks nice.

This one requires double pointed needles or a circ for the neck I think, but otherwise it's a two needle sweater.

We've got quite a few male knitters here, they are all very macho so you shouldn't have to worry about that!

Here are a couple sites you can search for patterns:
http://www.berroco.com/pattern_library.html
http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/mens_clothing.php
http://www.knitty.com/archiveMENSWEAR.php

Thanks Jan for your reply. I've looked at the first link you sent me and it looks very doable, if thats a word. sounds like one in my head but does'nt exactly look like one in print. Anyway thanks again.

That's why I said you'll have to learn to design your own. It's the ONLY way to get exactly what you picture in your head.
