I have seen a few post in the net for a pattern for the red shawl that Ma wears on Little House on the Prairie tv show. But I am not sure what pattern that would be. Can any one point me to the pattern that would be most like her shawl? Thanks,

Someone over at www.crochetforum.com mentioned that it looked like a half granny square. There's a link to instructions for that, but I'm sure Mary Grace (a.k.a. MGM) may have a tutorial for that right over here. Good Luck!

I would love to say Of Course I have a video for that one! But I don't! Great idea though, so thank you for that! I will definitely put it on my list of things-to-do. I love doing videos that I know will be helpful to someone in particular, then if others also find them and are helped by them, so much the better!

I have made this exact pattern before...one year for Christmas I made them in black, one for each nun in the convent where my sister is! That was a lot of crocheting!

Anyway, I will do this and post a link to it as soon as it is available.

Thanks for thinking of me!

BTW, today I sewed up the cutest little quilted bag. I'll be showing it on my site soon in case you are interested in seeing it!

I remember the shawl form tv but I have never seen a pattern for it. Now somewhere is a pattern for a doily created by Laura and it was once on the internet but I can't seem to find it.

Regarding the doily, I wrote to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum in Mansfield MO and this is what they had to say:

Thank you for your interest in the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home & Museum. I believe the doily you are referring to is the one with a bird, is that correct? It is my understanding that it had been available on-line but is no longer available. We do not have the pattern, as it was duplicated with the permission of the Director from photos. Laura and Rose both did handwork, and we have several examples on display in the Museum.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of further assistance.

Best wishes,

Darlys Wynn

HERE (http://www.hookedonneedles.com/2009/09/learn-to-crochet-half-granny-shawl.html) is my version of the half granny shawl...not a complete shawl, but a sample, pictures, video and pattern.

I am actually going to finish the sample into a complete shawl though. I'm using the leftover yarn from my Sweet Liberty afghan (http://www.hookedonneedles.com/2009/07/sweet-liberty-complete-happy-july-4th.html) that I made this past summer. It is a nice soft Bernat worsted and should make a cozy shawl in red, white and blue.

I'm still working on my shawl and it's coming along nicely. I used up all my leftover red yarn and white yarn. Now I'm working on using up the leftover blue yarn to finish it up. I think it will be a nice size. Pictures will be posted when it is finished.

There is a Laura Ingalls Wilder crocheted Doily in Piecework Magazine May-June 2008.
You might be able to buy back issues from the magazine
