View Full Version : Baby knit ideas? Suggestions?

One of my friends found out about 3 weeks ago that she's pregnant.

But she doesn't know what gender it'll be... Also, I'm in grad school and probably won't have a terribly huge amount of time or money to knit something, but I would like to make something for her as a baby-gift. Finally, I'm at best an intermediate level knitter.

So! Here's my question:

Does anyone know of any unisex patterns for something for a baby out there that would be relatively quick, not too complex, and affordable to do?

A 5-Hour Baby Sweater set? Those are easy and (obviously) quick. Let me see if I can find the version with the hat and booties really quickly...http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/kp3.html

Oh, goodness, there are SO many beautiful baby patterns out there that aren't hard or time-consuming. Make some gender-neutral color, or a favorite sports team's or the like. I'm jealous...you get to knit for a baby!:cheering:

I love knitting for babies! Here's a few ideas.

Sweater (http://carole.barenys.com/RaglanSweater.html) It's unisex and seamless. Just add the buttons after you find out if it's a boy or girl or use little duckies or something. Doublereeder just posted hers.
