Hello all,

I am new to the forum but won't post in the "introduce myself" thread until my typo in my user name is fixed... long story...

Anyway, I have been knitting for years and have somehow never come across the term "steek" until today. What is a steek and what does it do? I ahve seen some pictures of one in progress, but am still fuzzy on the objective...

Thanks!

A steek is taking a scissors and cutting your knitting. It's done when you've knit in the round and need to create and opening for the front of a cardigan, the sleeves or neck. There are special techniques that are done to help keep it from unraveling.

Welcome to Knitting Help! Have you contacted anyone about your user name? If not PM me with the corrected name and I'll see what I can do.
