My new Options needle came in the mail today and I already bought some kroy sock yarn. Got a busy weekend planned, but will have some knitting time next week!

I've made a few toe-up socks, trying an afterthought heel and traditional gusset/heel flaps. I'd like to try some other heels, while continuing toe-up for now. I'm not on ravelry yet, so need some suggestions/patterns please. TIA.

Try Cat Bordhi's Houdini Sock (http://twistcollective.com/articlepdfs/houdinimercurial080108.pdf). Then watch these videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6d076POJ04) with more hints on the construction. It's the only way I make socks now.:yay:

There's several versions of short row heels. It's my personal least favorite so I don't have any tried & true patterns handy for you. Here are several places outside ravelry to look, though:

Thanks Lizzie & Marilyn. Many of those were patterns I hadn't seen yet.

A short row heel was what I thought I would try next. I found a couple that interest me at those links. The Houdini sock is totally new to me, am going to try that at some point too.

Unfortunately, I realized the date and socks will now have to wait until after Christmas.
