I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I was looking at this pattern, and I got the stuff to make it, but when I looked at it again I realized it didn't make sense. Maybe I'm just not ready yet but...
I wanted to make this scarf (http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/decoscarf1patt.html). My confusion comes from the pattern reading

odd rows: k3, k5, p5, k5, k3
even rows: k3, p5, k5, p5, k3

This probably sounds stupid, but shouldn't it be something like k3, p5, k5, p5, k3? Otherwise it looks like it should read as k8, p5, k8

It reads that way because they separate the edge stitches from the center stitches. This way you remember that every row starts with k3 and is followed either by k5 or p5

Thank you so much! It totally makes sense now :woohoo:
