No, it's not an acronym. Frogs say 'ribbit' and what we do when we frog is rippit.. get it? Rip It? :teehee:

It can also be an acronym (totally not knitting-related...well, maybe sometimes depending on the difficulty of the pattern.) for

Fully Rely On God.

I know it's not an acronym, but I think it would be fun to think up a few. How about Fully unRaveled On Ground.

A frog can be a military style fastening on a coat consisting of a button and a loop.

It's really just because you "rippit, rippit" - but I've heard some people claim it stands for

F***ing Ripped Out, GRRRRRRRRR!

A frog also makes... a really neat emblem for a needleworking website!! (She's holding a crochet hook, and two knitting needles - with a tatting shuttle on the ground.)

My frog is named Murial - like the wonderful grandmotherly lady in "Courage the Cowardly Dog", lol!

I chose the frog for my symbol because I do "frog" a lot - but Aunt Dot also has a wonderful Fudge Pot, lol where you learn how to cover up (fudge) your knitting goofs instead.
