I'm short on time to make a few Christmas gifts, so I searched for a pattern to make slipper socks using Lion Wool-Ease Thick & Quick (http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/we-thick.htm) yarn. I have several skeins, as well as some similar yarns of the same weight.
I found the Red Hot Slipper Socks (http://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternFinder.fcgi?language=&store=%2Fstores%2Flionbrand&search=1&searchText=red+hot+slipper&submit.x=49&submit.y=6) on the Lion Brand website, and decided to give them a try. There are a few mistakes on the pattern, which are listed on the main page for the pattern. So, I printed out the PDF file, and wrote the corrections on it. (Weird that they haven't updated the PDF file.) :??
Anyway, it only took a day to make both slipper socks, and they turned out great! :) I used different bulky yarns to make them.
