Yay! I just finished my second Frog Prince...

I started this project on February 15th and finished it today (February 28th). I knit it for the Ravelympics, which gave me incentive to finish quickly. It will be gifted to my son's English teacher from last year. She loves frog things.

My son had asked me to make this last year, but I kept putting him off, allowing the project to intimidate me. However, when a friend asked me to make this for his father who was beginning chemotherapy treatments, I got busy. I posted that project here back in October.

However, my son was annoyed that I kept putting him off.

Because this project uses very little yarn, I had plenty left over to make the one he had requested way back when, so I finally cast on.

Mr. Frog was knit using US 2 1/2 needles. I used Vanna's Choice in Olive and Dusty Green. I also used I Love This Yarn in Buttercup and White. The black for the eyes was leftover SWTC Bamboo, which was quadrupled. I knit the last row of the eyes in the black, allowing for the star look (this was something I figured out the first time I made the frog).

I pulled out my leftover DMC floss from my cross stitching days and used the green to embroider the mouth. Oy, this was not my favorite part to do, but I sucked it up, started over a few times, and finally got it done.

(Ignore the white areas on his face. In reality, his face is not stretched like that, so you can't see the stuffing. Must have been the lighting.)

My son is going to look strange when he carries this into school tomorrow. As you can see, Mr. Frog is not exactly small.

One of these days, I'm going to have to make one to stay home with me!

Thanks, as ever, for looking!! It is always so much fun to share my projects with you because only other fiber artists can truly appreciate what we do!

Adorable! Really great work. That is one lucky teacher. How can you look at that sweet face and not smile?

I love it! Do you have a pattern? My DMIL loves frogs and would love a knitted one.

Oops...I forgot to include pattern info!

The pattern came from the March 2009 Simply Knitting (http://www.simplyknitting.co.uk/page/simplyknitting?catname=/Latest%20and%20past%20issues) issue. It looks like you can purchase it here (http://www.alandart.co.uk/products/product/62).
